Hi, I am on week 2 run 1. I enjoyed week1 run 3. Anyone want to join. My motivations are weight loss, mental health and improve my fitness. I'm a mum of 2 little ones and have had depression before, am feeling on the verge of it again. I'm also the heaviest I've been in my life.

Trust the process. I have the BBC app with Sarah Milligan narrating and like you she says something along the lines of you might not think it's possible but keep going and you'll build stamina.

I’ve got to say getting to week 7 has taken about 4 months though 😂

MamaBanana12 · 19/09/2025 10:57

Can I join! I’m just done week 1 run 2, going to do run 3 tomorrow as I did my 30 mins, then weights then a dance fit class so my legs are like lead today!!!

I used to be like that. Now I just try not to care. I speed up and smile brightly so as to try not to look awful whilst passing people

ew1990 · 21/09/2025 18:08

I braved the park that day and it was empty! Today ive actually ran on the streets. Week 1 completed for me now and today was the first time I didn't get a stitch!

Alwayslearning25 · 21/09/2025 18:38

Hi @MamaBanana12 welcome. I know I need to do more weight training. I have little hand dumbbells, I think just 1kg. Even bodyweight would be good. I started a leg challenge but stopped when I started the c25k. I do little bits of it esspecaly for my knees but not enough.

Well done @ew1990

How is everyone doing who joined me at the beginning @tryingtobesogood @GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut @dilemma2516 @WarriorsComeOutToPlayay

I didn't run for a week then did the last week 3 run and didn't find it as bad as I thought. I was expecting the break to slow my progress down for stamina. I took DD (age 7) with me. The flat sections of roadl/ park near me there are playgrounds. So DD did the first 2 runs with me then went on the playground while I ran back and forth along the pavement next to her. My warmup walk is a steep uphill then the running has a nice view so it's good. I'm not sure how good I'll be with the nights drawing in, may need to invest in reflective clothing and/or a headtorch. But I'm still not sure if I'm comfortable running in the dark. Maybe I'll sign up to the gym..

Just finished week 2 today, I really struggled with the 90 seconds of running at first but I loved todays run!
Dreading the 3 minute runs in week 3 but excited

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 28/09/2025 20:02

I did week 4 run 1 at the beginning of the thread.... And nothing else! 😂

But I've just done the same run today - bought myself some new trainers today as a bribe, spent more than I meant to so I've got to keep going now!

I'm also going to try to go swim training on weds for the first time in about 2 years. I kept putting it off until I was 'fitter'.

Alwayslearning25 · 28/09/2025 21:05

I started on week 4 today but a few seconds in switched to week 2 as I've not run regularly and have a cold. Thinking about when I'll run again, I don't know... between work and 2 small children and an elderly dog (he loves walks but I can't run with him anymore). My eldest can run with me but my 2 year old, not easy. In Wednesday this week I am planning on starting an excersice class, it's a day I have with my 2 year old and a class to bring little kids to...so I don't want to run on the same day. So probably not until next weekend allthough I may get the chance one evening.

I completed C25K earlier this year. Never thought I could run for 30 mins but I did (although it wasn’t very close to 5K!). Then a couple of weeks ago I did a 10k race and ran all the way - although I came in the bottom 10% possibly even 5%, but beat the time I’d aimed for and finished in torrential rain. So… trust the process, you can definitely do it even if you have to repeat a week.
my only issue is my knees - I’m only doing 2 runs a week now as the longer runs are taking their toll on them. Need quite a bit of recovery time as I am over 50.

MamaBanana12 · 29/09/2025 08:17

Hey! I did my first week 3 run yesterday (still technically in week 2) but I’m enjoying it. switching between gym & outdoors. Managed week 3 pretty well even with the full 3 minute running; so I’m definitely improving stamina wise!
im really really enjoying it

But im doing at least 3 runs a week (sometimes 4 if I’m doing every other day) and ive had some dance fit classes & weight training too

Alwayslearning25 · 29/10/2025 07:35

How is everyone doing? Week 4 has taken me a month to complete. But it was a good run so I'm keen to move onto week 5 next time. We're on holiday by the south coast so I ran on a flat nature reserve so it was very enjoyable. My home is hilly!

lunar1 · 29/10/2025 08:29

Can I join! I just found this thread. I did the second week two run yesterday, 90 seconds is a long time.

I wish I’d not looked ahead, because I have no clue how I’ll run for three minutes. I also bought new, overpriced trainers, so have to keep going.

It the guy on the audio said I can call myself a runner now, he clearly hasn’t seen me.

MamaBanana12 · 29/10/2025 14:43

Hey! Keep going guys! I’m up to week 7 I think but to be honest I did my first 5k 2 weeks ago and I’ve just kinda kept going with that now 🙈

Alwayslearning25 · 02/11/2025 08:47

Hi, just done week 5 run 2. Run 1 was ok, but on holiday around salt flats on the coast so seinic and flat! I've found a flatish area I can get two 5 minute walk from my house but it's hilly in comparison. The first 8 minutes run was ok, but second 8 minutes was painful and much slower. I will repeat this run as I'm not ready to run 20 minutes yet.

Week four run one is a hell of a jump, but I did it! How’s everyone else doing?

lunar1 · 06/11/2025 10:41

@Alwayslearning25im pretending that I didn’t just read week 5 is 8 minute runs!!

Alwayslearning25 · 06/11/2025 11:18

Week 5 is 3 different runs unlike 1-4

Hi, can I join please? Lost my dad last month and now the funeral’s done I’ve decided I WILL complete this (I’ve done week 1 several times but never got on board with it). I need to lose a huge chunk of weight but atm it’s more of a mental thing and if I lose weight alongside, fab. Started week 1 on Monday and did the 3 runs throughout the week, and then did week 2 run 1 last night. Very very surprised and super impressed that I completed all of the runs with no stopping 😭. I’m itching to go out tonight after I’ve done bedtime but hubby is working so I don’t think timings will work out so it’ll be a tomorrow job most likely. Hope you’ve all had a good weekend 🥰
