Tips for getting a charity place for London Marathon

Does anyone have any advice on what charities want to see on your application?

I applied for a couple of charity places last year and wasn’t successful, and was just wondering if they look for something particular in the application- like connection with the charity, or a big number in the “predicted amount” box?

Look at smaller charities with places maybe

Aspire - a charity for people with spinal injuries - usually has places. However, like other charities, you have to guarantee raising £2000 as charities have to pay £1000 for each place they have.

Does your workplace have a 'charity of the year' type scheme whereby they are officially affiliated to a particular charity? Ours does and in some years there have been places available via that relationship, with a fundraising commitment of course.
