@samthebordercollie and @Gobacktotheworld I completely agree about cardio. I get such a buzz after a good cardio session.

It is a shame that CG doesn't do her hiit days anymore in her new series. I normally incorporate in my own. I like variety so mix it up between bodyweight hiit, hiit with weights, metcon, Tabatha, amrap etc.

How much cardio is in Rev overall? I know there is some, but I've only done the first 3 workouts so haven't got a feeling for it yet. I'll add in my own hiit if needed

@BigButtons if you have steep hills walking up them shoud definitely get your heart rate up. Spin classes are the only thing that get my heart rate up to near max from time to time.
@ItsCoolForCats every one of the full body rev days got my heart rate up nearly as much as her HIT workouts, but the other days not at all.
Did day 23 PE quad workout this morning which wasn't a good idea considering it was already 20C at 7am. It was a very sweaty session, but enjoyable, wall sits and step ups as well as squats and lunges, @Gobacktotheworld you'd have loved it!
Has anyone done the new workouts on the August calendar this week yet?

BigButtons · 12/08/2025 14:53

@Gobacktotheworld i sis actually do one of her Xmas weighted cardio yesterday- room it slowly but did feel much better afterwards must be said. I then did the beastmode suggested one on the August calendar. Took the weights down to protect my shoulder but did each move extra slowly and it really burned. Shoulder is feeling happier for it too.

I did a short jog with the dogs early this morning before it got too warm, followed by day 14 of the iron series.

I like the suggestion of her calisthenics series for while I'm away, thank you.
Do most of you use the app, and is it one payment or a subscription or can you just buy specific programmes on it? I 'm thinking of getting it but I'm not sure I'd use the longer workouts (over 45min) when I'm back in work after the summer hols. And there's so much free on YT.

Enrichetta · 12/08/2025 17:08

I have been working out with Caroline for 5 years and still haven’t felt the need to get the App. All her programmes include a few calisthenics workouts, so you could just make a list.

Growingannanas also has lots of workouts that don’t need dumbbells, although they are more HIIT. I like her for when I need a break from Mrs Girvan!

Minesril · 12/08/2025 18:40

Working through Intent. Leg day today. There were 134 Bulgarian lunges! I mean I quite like BLs but this was quite punishing.

Finding it a bit difficult to get excited about another Iron series. I actually got bored doing the app version and stopped! But I guess it’s the series that so many people come back to.

samthebordercollie · 12/08/2025 19:18

I mostly use the App there is so much on it now, I rarely go back to the YouTube workouts. It isn’t too expensive compared to Peleton, Les Mills etc. and I’m happy to support CG as she puts in so much work. I wonder if she regrets the App…I remember on Mindpump the guys were saying they would never recommend any trainer put out an App alone as there was so much work and pressure getting out new programmes it,was very hard to succeed. I know CG has a team behind her but I think she designs and certainly does and films all the workouts herself, it’s not like Peleton where there is a team of trainers demonstrating the workouts.

Argh I can't unsee the nappy now.

ArtTheClown · 13/08/2025 23:08

I just watched Justina Ercole talking about a CG workout. I didn't take to her.

BigButtons · 14/08/2025 07:25

I think her training style and weight choices have changed a lot since her YouTube days. I feel that her weights are certainly safer for upper body work and she is including a lot more rear delt and glute work now- this was not the case with you tube.
with the new series I am toying with missing the fb day( I hate them) and doing some sort of cardio- lifting heavy does get my heart rate up though for sure - especially those heavy lunges.
i think I will pass on the banded glute one. Have been roughly following her summer schedule- not always doing the exact sessions suggested but going for an alternative that works the same muscle group.
yesterday I did 2 cgxmas ones- a hamstring and then a back one.
off to Gylndbourne today: I don’t make a tit of myself

The joys of lifting- I am trying on my dresses for Glyndbourne . I have only 2 that I can just about squeeze in to. The rest won’t do up round my back.🤔

@BigButtons hope you enjoy Glyndebourne even with the squashed shoulders!
I did Day 25 PE, Glutes, 108 hipthrusts in total, although 36 should have been bridges but I don't feel my glutes working as much so always swap them out. Then as an add on the quads workout which I've never done before, it wasn't very difficult or sweaty as the comments would have you believe.
interesting to see some of the comments on the Banded workout for this week, other people fed up with the glute and shoulder workouts and the lack of chest and HIT workouts on the App

I'm also vaguely following the week's recommendations. Did the burny glute one yesterday, and today did the back. I added on the quick bicep workout from the app as I didn't really feel like they'd done much.

I actually quite like the focus on the glutes as I enjoy most of the exercises. Except bridges. For some reason doing them makes me feel bored and angry and I find them uncomfortable in a way I can't quite put my finger on - not painful or anything.

@Gobacktotheworld I like the look of that kick and shred one, thanks for the recommendation. Will make a change from lockdown-era free Les Mills combat with the same crappy jokes!
