Strength training for 75+

My DM would like to do some strength training. Ideally some YouTube videos she can follow, any recommendations? I do Caroline but that’s definitely not in her comfort zone.

She already has pre osteoporosis, and would like to build strength but fractured her pelvis last year so needs to take it easy. Before then she did a lot of Pilates but even a year on that can aggravate it.

She’s still active though, lots of gardening and looking after her GC! She’s a healthy weight so this is very much strength building not weight loss.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Dr Lisa Moore and Margaret Martin are both really great with recommendations for exercise to build bones and muscles, aimed at people with a very wide range of fitness, experience and fall risk. They're also clear on what to avoid, e.g. anything that puts strain through the spine in a twisting or bent position.

I think she should see a physiotherapist experienced in working with the elderly who can work out a routine for her - or a selection of exercises she can rotate. If Pilates aggravates a condition, then using resistance training methods needs to be done very carefully.

I follow @ trainwithjoan on IG

Inspirational woman. Her daughter is a bodybuilder & she took up strength training in her 60s. Think she has an app now, might be worth a look.

Sorry @northwestgirl , only just saw your request. Both have channels on youtube but here are their dedicated websites:
