Has anyone got experience of running a marathon (looking at c. 4 hours ) without eating anything or taking any gels? They never seem to sit right with me but I also have never run that far! Marathon isn't til October so I have time either way. TIA 😊

I like Maurten as well, good choice. Bit spendy though!

I’ve emailed them in the past for a discount code and they were very helpful

Hey @adventurer2020 how did you get on?

I did my first at the weekend with about seven gels taken but felt very sick for the last few miles. Then was actually sick! will need another strategy for the next one!

I did my first just over a week ago and didn’t do any gels. Managed a time of 3:28 too, so didn’t do me any harm.

what I did was have 2x toast and peanut better first thing. Then a flapjack about 30 mins before the start. I had a pack of the energy byte gummies and had 2 at about the 10 mile mark and then 2 every 4-5 miles after that. I drank about 700ml of electrolytes before a started out and took 200ml with me in a little silicone flask that straps to your wrist.

worked well for me and was super pleased with my time! I did train without fuelling though and so my body wasn’t expecting a lot of gels to keep me going.

you might have to try out a few different things and see what works for you.
