Hello

I want to do some Pilates but because I have small children I want ti do it from home. I'm a complete beginner.

I have had Pilates by Bryony recommended but it's very expensive. Can anybody recommend an app or anything online? I'm a beginner 😊 Thanks in advance.

I use pilates anytime which is about £20 a month. It has a great range of classes and instructors - I highly recommend it. Tracey mallett is particularly good.

Lottie Murphy. I love her demeanour and there are loads more videos on her site/app than her YouTube.

Clairelouisepilates "Moovness" - £10 a month for access to a large catalogue of workouts. I go to her classes - she's great. Cancel at anytime. Hope you get sorted.

Move with Nicole and Jessica Valant are another 2 good YouTube Pilates channels

I would really advise that you at least do a short in person course so you have a tutor there to correct any issues initially. Even my Pilates teacher admitted that when she first stated Pilates she did it online and it wasn't until she did it in person that she'd been doing it wrong.

The Girl with the Pilates Mat on YouTube has a beginners course on her channel

Thanks all for your contributions. Will check all of these suggestions out 😊 Knew Mumsnet would have some good suggestions!

There are quite a few that are cheaper than Pilates with Bryony or have longer trials.

You could look at

Fluidform (works out about £12 a month)
Form
Pilates for Runners (not just for runners) with some live classes
Formulaic
The Barre Studio (might not be enough pilates in that though but there's a trial)
Studio 44 Pilates
Pilates with Chloe (£20 a month)

I've also seen one called OliviaRose

Live Brave Pilates (£25 a month so might be a bit pricey but currently doing a six week trial)

Refreshercise by Steph. Online Pilates classes twice weekly and short online videos to help with movement, especially when you’re stuck behind a desk most of the day: refreshercise.com

Second nod to Live Brave. I read about it a while back on Womens Health and, combining this three times a week with Zwift on a turbo trainer, it has changed my attitude and motivation to exercise. Founded by Lou Buttler (Joss Buttler's wife) it is incredibly well put together, the app Never crashes, you can search by difficulty, duration, body part, and there are zero annoying instructors. The trial is available and for me, it is money well spent. https://studio.livebrave.life/pages/join-live-brave-pilates?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAvvO7BhC-ARIsAGFyToX_Bus9AUG5vWTZMqxq29NNh3knV3TfR6wHPJvZs-kAor2zptpymNUaApayEALw_wcB

As suggested by @CountTo10 have some in person instruction first. Pilates is about small, precise movement. It is very important to get that right to benefit fully and understand each move and position.

That was where I read about it too :)

Good idea to combine with Zwift at this time of year!
