Running shorts with pockets

I like the lululemon 6" lycra running shorts with the pockets on the leg, but not the price! Are there any alternatives in a more reasonable price bracket?

Ron Hill has some nice ones

Iwontlethtesungodownonme · 24/11/2024 17:22

I have a pair of Crz yoga ones. They are about 5 years old now and still fine.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/11/2024 17:23

I have one pair of lulu-lemmings. I hate the expense and hype and didn't buy them myself but they are worth every penny. Damn them.

StrongerFitter · 24/11/2024 17:24

Love my llama leggings.

Iwontlethtesungodownonme · 24/11/2024 17:25

I have a pair of lululemon leggings and they have bobbled horribly.

0psiedasiy · 24/11/2024 17:29

I’ve got some halara ones that are nice, better than under armour or nike

StamppotAndGravy · 24/11/2024 17:30

Decathlon trail running shorts have all the pockets. You could survive for days

twohotwaterbottles · 24/11/2024 17:31

My sweaty betty ones are fab and the pocket situ is good. But they're also ££££. They have a good Black Friday sale in though if you want to check xx

thisfilmisboring123 · 24/11/2024 17:35

Gymshark have some, currently £24 I think

Chocolateteabag · 25/11/2024 09:00

Sturdy girl come with leg pockets and a zip pocket on the back

lljkk · 29/11/2024 15:38

Charity shops for low price, look at mens esp. men's swimming trunks. All come with pockets, adjustable waist size, very comfy, easy to run in.

MiddleAgedDread · 29/11/2024 15:40

Flanci or I have M&S Good Move leggings with pockets like that so they might do shorts too

BuzzieLittleBee · 29/11/2024 15:48

Ronhill are my go-to for running shorts with pockets. Not cheap, but they wash very well and last. I've got some which are over 5 years old, and I run about 1,200 miles a year, so they've done a lot of miles!

Sweaty betty ones have good side pockets, but I'm not a fan of the look/style of them. My running friends all love them though, so that's just me. They have a good sale on today...

unsync · 29/11/2024 15:47

These are designed by runners for runners. https://www.sturdybydesign.com/collections/shorts?

I have the leggings, they are comfortable to wear and wash well.

I can't stand those shorts because I don't want tight shorts at all to run in.
I only run in lycra half-full length when it's quite cold.
There's no logic why women's shorts are tight lycra & men get loose shorts with generous pockets.
I hope OP finds something she likes, anyway.

BuzzieLittleBee · 29/11/2024 17:11

Lots of women do like running in tight lycra though? Just because you don't, it doesn't make it wrong. There are shorts out there which aren't as tight, or which have a looser layer over the top.

I'm not a fan of a cycling-style short, but when it comes to full length leggings I like them to be a tight, snug fit. A loose/baggy short wouldn't suit me at all.

Threads like this, where lots of people share different recommendations, are really useful to see what kinds of things other people have found work for them.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 29/11/2024 17:37

The parkrun brand Contra has done good options.

lljkk · 29/11/2024 19:36

yeah I hope OP finds whatever she likes. Maybe she'll like the ones "designed by runners for runners" even

Forestcantrun · 29/11/2024 21:52

I like SB power shorts , they have the leg pocket and the zip back pocket. M&S do similar but I don’t find them very sweat wicking. SB sale is really good, now is the time to buy.
bimble and Bolt have started selling shorts, they look good, I’ve not tried them yet but I rate their socks.

Jumbojem · 02/12/2024 21:02

I'm a big sweaty Betty fan, had two pairs of the power type cycle shorts in short and closer to knee length. However just bought a pair of their Zero gravity running shorts (cycle short style) and love them, two leg pockets plus rear pocket, lighter weight material and very supportive. The high waist suits me. They are currently 30% off for black Friday, I'd never pay full price at SB!
I disagree all mens shorts have deep pockets, my OH is jealous of my pockets many of his shorts have no pockets, or they have no zip which is useless for keeping phone/key safe on a run.
Some of my running friends prefer baggy shorts but personally find I'm constantly pulling them out of my crotch as they bunch up as I run. Hungry thighs I've heard people call it so I'm not the only one!

Forestcantrun · 02/12/2024 22:41

@Jumbojem hungry thighs🤣🤣🤣 For this reason I cannot wear the 6in SB, have to be the 9in.

weareallqueens · 05/01/2025 12:41

My Ronhill shorts are great. 2 layers but the tight ones are not insanely tight. Phone pocket in lower layer and zip pocket in upper so they actually hold quite a bit. They're generally well discounted, especially if you're happy with last season's colours.

Codlingmoths · 09/01/2025 13:05

I got the 2xu ones with a bike shorts layer with a phone pocket. If you are between sizes though I’d consider sizing down as I’ve found the phone weighs it down.

Shinytaps · 09/01/2025 20:46

I’ve not read the whole thread so sorry if duplicating but I have some Koko and Kind ones that are a decent dupe for SB shorts

I have a pair of Crz yoga ones. They are about 5 years old now and still fine.

These! Price has tripled since I bought mine, but they're brilliant.

I use them for running, yoga, cycling, gym.
