Coccyx pain after running?

I regularly run 5k 2-3 times a week including Park Run (I also run in proper running trainers that I was fitted for).

A few weeks ago I did a Park Run, ran my usual kind of time (not fast not slow!) and didn't knowingly injure myself.
However, since then, I've had a horrible aching pain in my coccyx area which is particularly bad when I get up from the sofa.

Does anyone have any idea what may have happened and what I can do?! Has anyone had similar after a run despite being a regular runner?
(I am going to see a professional!).
Thanks!

No advice, but I've started running again recently and it's really made my hips ache. No idea why! Hope you feel better soon.

are you stretching after?

Thanks for the replies.

I'm probably not stretching enough after! I'm very good at warming up but less so at warming down ...

I think the confusing thing is how suddenly the pain has come on despite me not changing anything in my exercise routine ...

If you think back to the run where you picked up the injury; did you land strangely at any point - eg put a foot in a pothole, skid on a patch of mud or similar? In my experience, something like that can be enough to jar your back a little, but a few days off running and some yoga is usually enough to sort out out.

Do you do any exercise as well as running, as well? Some weights and yoga would be really useful in terms of helping you get stronger, so that the muscles take more of the effort during your runs, rather than your joints. This would also be really useful for all-over strength and fitness if you eanted to start doing more mileage.
