Walking Pad or Treadmill?

Hi All... After a bit of an unpleasant encounter whilst out running I am considering buying a walking pad or a treadmill... Probably just to continue Couch to 5k and then maintenance runs and for other members of family to boost their step count... No one weighing more than about 55kg... Has anyone got any good or bad experiences to share that might help me decide what to go for?

I’ve been having this debate (with myself), currently quite unfit but used to be fairly fit. The issue with most walking pads (as I see it) is the limited speed, the walkpads that run at 9kmph max are almost as much cost wise as a treadmill.

For that reason I’ve gone with a treadmill because once I’ve improved my fitness I can imagine that a walkpad will not do what I want it to.

I have both. If I wanted to run, definitely a treadmill for speed and safety rail reasons. My walking pad goes under my desk but I'd not go about 3.5 to 4 mph without a rail.

Can you recommend a walking pad please?
