I really need to lose weight . I walk quite a bit but it’s not enough. I have a back problem
which is made worse by swimming and after two winters of being crippled after starting swimming I am scared to try again. Likewise the gym. I love yoga but can’t find a class near me which I enjoy and am bored with doing it at home .I wondered about getting an exercise bike but don’t know where to start. How does a Peleton work exactly and is it better than other bikes?
I would like to try to do some weights but likewise don’t know where to start.

Could you have a chat with your GP first who may be able to refer you to a physio who can help you with the best kind of exercise for you.

In terms of losing weight that is really diet, but definitely do it alongside varied exercise.

I took up cycling two years ago and absolutely love it, but on a normal bike rather than an indoor one. Your work may do a cycle to work scheme which would give you a discount. If you can cycle to work or part of the way, it will also build exercise into your day.

I have just a cheap spin bike off Amazon and use the peloton app with it and it also has some weight classes

I have a road bike and love going out when the weather is nice however if you would rather an indoor bike so you can use all year round I would avoid Peloton. Very expensive to buy and ongoing subscription costs. I have a Watt bike and I use it with Apple fitness and it’s much cheaper.
Maybe look for a second hand one. However I would speak to your doctor/physio first as Goodcat has suggested to make sure you are doing exercise which is suitable for you.
