Hi everyone
I’ve been a member of David Lloyd for the last 6 months really enjoy it, spa is lovely I enjoy the swimming pools the classes the gym all the facilities I take the kids every now and then on guest pass there at full time school. gets me out of the home and keeps me fit however if I continue with the membership it means we can’t afford the 10 day trip to Egypt next year so 10 days in the sun? Or lifestyle daily at the gym what’s your thoughts?

I won't pay what David Lloyd asks for. Joined the Kensington one years ago and thought it was very poor value. However, so is Egypt.

Egypt!

CitrusPocket · 25/10/2024 18:22

How much is Egypt compared to Europe? If you just go for the resort there must be nice ones in Italy/Greece/Turkey/somewhere hot that are cheaper?

SquatWeightaMinute · 25/10/2024 18:25

I wouldn’t put something just for me ahead of a family holiday that benefits us all. I would switch gym and go on a cheaper holiday.

TheChosenTwo · 25/10/2024 18:31

i wouldn’t sacrifice my dl membership for one 10 day holiday.
I don’t use it loads but I spin and use the spa just about enough to justify the membership.
I don’t go in for any of the other classes and rarely bother with the gym but the spa and outside pool are lovely, more so when it’s winter cold.
Holidays are short, I’d rather live a better life all year round than make sacrifices for 2 weeks in the sun.

I would go for David Lloyd too, I love my membership, I've started to play tennis again, I actually relax going to the spa instead of being on the go all the time, and I've made friends there. It's what you do every day that make much more of a difference to your life than the things you do once in a while. Are you able to afford an alternative family holiday than Egypt?

I don't fancy Egypt - but I do love my holidays. I was originally going to say go for the holiday as exercise can be free - you tube and a run - but the club as described does sound like a year long holiday venue. Difficult decision. I don't know what your holiday cost would be but I think I'd be looking for a bit of compromise - eg a cheaper holiday and a 6 month DL membership, or do they offer an off peak one?

we wouldn’t be going to Sinai peninsula we would be going to hurghada we have been to Egypt a couple of times found food wasn’t the greatest but did really enjoy it some of there resorts are beautiful but each to there own I guess! was thinking of turkey love it there and food is lovely but it’s so expensive to go in July and not as hot in may hence why we chose Egypt as the kids are off in may!

I'd stick with the gym. You've got that for the whole year, rather than just for ten days - absolutely no contest, in my opinion (especially if they have a lovely outdoor pool).

LoveSandbanks · 25/10/2024 19:39

I love my DL membership. My children are 16-23. Frankly, I’m done giving stuff up for them. I work ft and 2 of my children have SEND. I get there 1-2 a week and sometimes I just sit in the spa for three hours

KatherineParrIII · 25/10/2024 21:21

I prioritised having nice things to do all year round above holidays for a long time. I’d keep the club membership.

fdwthuj · 25/10/2024 22:44

I left David Lloyd and joined council run gym at less than a 10th of the price.

Granted it's not as nice but it represents value for money and we can spend the savings on holidays

kindertoPTS · 27/10/2024 19:25

DL definitely. I go most days, it makes me happy, sleep well, healthy and fit.

Vs 10 days holiday. No contest for me!
