Hi, I'm trying very hard to get into regular running and am looking for some leggings which don't slip down over my C section overhang! It feels (and looks!) horrible!
Any ideas welcome!

M&S Good Move ones are high waisted and very supportive. They've washed and worn really well for the price too.

Poggishairtufts · 10/10/2024 12:18

I think a drawstring you can tie is key here. I used to do a bit of running and that was important to me

LivelyGoldOrca · 10/10/2024 12:18

Nike running tights are the best or if you want high waisted sweaty betty

Definitely!! never buy gym / running gear without a drawstring waist!

Thankyou! Great advice-cheers! 🏃‍♂️

Sports direct sell some Karrimor ones with a drawstring and phone pocket which are a great budget option if you’re just getting started

BogRollBOGOF · 10/10/2024 12:36

Decathlon are a good budget option and keeps the belly wobbles under control

Osco · 10/10/2024 12:36

I have 3 requirements
drawstring waist
back zipped for keys
side stash pocket for phone

Sweaty Betty power leggings have these. Also M&S good move though I just have their capri style ones. Don’t listen to any guff about high waisted ones, drawstring is essential. Don’t worry if not open both ends, you can pull and knot it.

EmmyPankhurst · 10/10/2024 12:44

If your budget stretches to it sweaty betty power leggings. I just got some in the sale for £44 (they are a weird colour but I don't care).

I've got several pairs of these now and love them. I initially bought a pair to try on and disdainfully dismiss as a rip off as all my friends were raving about them during covid (hah!).

At a lower price point I've got an old pair from decathlon (domyos brand) that have lasted really well and were super cheap. Nike running tights also good I have some of them too and got them at the outlet place.

Doesn’t the drawstring dig in?

MiddleAgedDread · 10/10/2024 12:49

@User1253S367484 no it doesn't, they're built into the waistband of the leggings.

Notstrongandstable · 10/10/2024 13:13

See I had drawstring Nike ones before and hated them, they always felt like they were falling down.
If you've got the budget Sweaty Betty are brilliant. I also had a cheap pair from H&M years ago that I loved, wore them to death! H&M stuff is worth checking out, I hit one of their running vests in summer and it's brilliant

Greenfingers37 · 10/10/2024 13:27

Brilliant! Didn't think of H and M! Do they have drawstrings?

I've got a pair of H&M on atm. Nice and high waisted with a pocket for your phone. No drawstring but don't slip down!

I really don't like drawstrings, so I suspect it depends on your shape. I've been rotating two pairs of Nike One high-waist leggings for years now and hope they never wear out.

MovingTooFast121 · 10/10/2024 13:41

I really rate HappyStride shorts and they do leggings which seem to have all the same features.
Drawstring waist (essential for those of us with the delightful combination of small waist/massive thighs/c-section pooch)
Zippy top pocket
Side pockets
Thick but not sweaty material
Jazzy colours/patterns
I wear their tight shorts for running/walking/gym and my original pair lasted a good couple of years of use at least twice per week with serious thigh rubbage.

Wegovypictures · 10/10/2024 14:09

I third M&S good move. They're amazing and very good SwB dupes. All I'll wear now!

I was just coming on to recommend H&M leggings!

I tried some on a couple of weeks ago that are pretty much identical to a pair of Nike ones I have and love but are only £30. They had the crucial drawstring, deep pockets for your phone, plus a zip pocket at the rear waist that’s ideal for keys. They’re nice and high waisted and really nice compressing material.

Just wanted to mention if you're on the sweaty Betty mailing list they send a 50% off voucher at your birthday. I love their Power leggings for yoga/pilates etc but I don't run anymore so don't know what they're like for that. Treated myself to a plain coloured pair with my voucher as normally I pick up a patterned sale pair cos I likes a bargain I do.

frockandcrocs · 10/10/2024 18:57

Sweaty Betty (Zero gravity) are not worth the money anymore.
I have 4 old pairs (at least 5ths old) which are still in really good nick, the last 2 pairs I've bought have broken within a couple of months.

I recently bought a pair of the Gymshark running leggings, and am impressed so far (have had them only a month though!). I did a half marathon in them and they stayed put (I have a long torso and they reach my waist!).

AuntieStella · 10/10/2024 21:24

SweatyBetty have always been very high price for the level of performance.

Many Decathlon leggings are excellent (and easily the best VFM)

Other brands that come well up at the waist, have drawstrings, zip pocket at the back for keys and thigh pockets too are Tikiboo, Flanci, Nike and New Balance.

FeelinTwentySixPointTwo · 12/10/2024 16:58

Decathlon are the best value for money (streets ahead of the high street brands like M&S or H&M).
I like my Sweaty Betty Zero Gravity for longer and slower trail runs, but would only ever buy them in the sale. Powers are too hot to run in, aside from if there's actual snow on the ground.
