Wetsuit repair

My wetsuit bottoms have split along the seam joining the neoprene and the stretchy waistband. Does it need a professional repair or would DIY work? I thought of a stick on patch but presumably it would fall off once the waistband was stretched. Unless I hand sewed it on? Don’t care what it looks
like , just that it works!
Any advice welcome. TIA

I would get it repaired. Wetsuit repairs are usually quite cheap and a lot better than anything you can do at home. If you are in the North East I can recommend somewhere.

Thank you both. I’m in Yorkshire, not far from a repair service. Just assumed it would be expensive. Might get some of that glue anyway- was on the point of chucking my favourite boots as they too are splitting!
This thread might convince DH that my time on Mumsnet is not wasted!
