Recommend a fitness tracker for regular swimming?

After a grand total of three outings in water (freshwater open lake) my otherwise faithful Fitbit Charge 5 has gone kaput, two months out of warranty.

Please can anyone recommend a good fitness tracker which is genuinely waterproof / resistant for regular swimming? I am looking for a slim band as I wear it alongside a conventional watch, so Apple Watch, Fitbit Versa etc won’t be suitable. Looking to track steps, workouts and sleep. I am looking at the Garmin Vivosmart but open to other suggestions. Budget up to £200.

No help, but my supposedly waterproof fitbit did exactly the same, after just 2 swims.

It’s infuriating, isn’t it, especially when swimming is marketed as one of the exercises it will track?

I left mine to dry out for a week. The screen works intermittently if I reset it from the charger but then does again. I am still wearing it as the tracking functions still work if I sync to the app, but the screen is pretty much fried so I can’t tell the time or start a workout from the device. I’m reliant on it auto-detecting workouts which is fine for walks but it tends to think that my swims are elliptical workouts Confused.

Do you want it for lots of open water swimming? I have the garmin venue square 2 and it is very robust but possibly only really accurate for the pool.

@TheLurpackYears yes, it’s for open-water swimming and the model you mention is much bigger than the style I’m looking for. Thank you though!

I have just ordered the garmin swim 2. It hasn't arrived yet. But seemed to have good reviews, be fairly versatile, and for me/my level be able to synch with swimtag, so I can continue to compete in my (slow, breaststroke) swimtag virtual competitions.

My son has Garmin Swim 2 and its great for tracking open water swims. Its not too chunky compared to other garmins either.

Garmin Swim 2 looks great as a full fitness watch but I'm looking for something smaller to wear alongside a conventional watch. Thanks though.
