What do you all eat

Just that really.

I'm trying really hard to eat better as well as attending the gym on a regular basis. Mixture of weights, cardio classes and trying to get 2 5k runs in on the treadmill/outside if I can a week.

As a result I am always bloody hungry 😩.

I.am finding it so hard to get enough protein and stay within a sensible calorie limit per day. Carbs are practically a no go now as there just isn't the spare calories fir them. I'm having to resort to shakes and those high protein puddings/wraps etc you can buy which seem quite high calorie in itself. But lower than the food otherwise required to match the protein intake. I'm.always boiling eggs to have with soup , I get through stupid amounts if chicken and eat tuna out the can like a bloody cat. But it still seems impossible to match all the macros ( thank u my fitness pal for this particular rabbit hole) and stay within calorie allowance.

A typical day will look something along the lines of

Breakfast- greek yogurt with granola and berries. Or ready brek with protein powder and almond milk.

Lunch- chicken or tuna salad wrap in a high protein wrap. A couple of jailed eggs. Piece of fruit. One of those protein puddings maybe .

Dinner. Soup with a couple of eggs or chicken added and a toasted protein bagel. Or salmon/chicken with salad.

Snacks will be along the.lines of fruit . Some medjool dates if I fancy something more sweet like.

I Try to keep around 1800 calories but sometimes it seems impossible. I don't like relying on the processed stuff like shakes but I'm not sure how to do it..

So,

What do u all eat..I need ideas really.

I don’t eat back my exercise calories either and I agree they are depressing reading wtf

I don’t do just cardio as that makes me starving this is why I do weights too

I eat carbs and lost weight on them, it’s water they hold that causes the scales to go up they aren’t fattening per se, just they can be so more ish so yeah I eat the brown versions of everything carby

I eat fruit and yoghurt for breakfast
sushi or poke bowl for lunch, or naked burger salads (my fave)
salad salad salad - I eat a few red peppers every day for snacks. Cheese
Eggs, protein bagels, turkey bacon, avocados, salmon, rice, veg, chicken, soup
no limits in that respect I just don’t eat junk food very often

vegan protein is way better than whey, the whey makes me feel ill!

You're eating a fair amount of ultra processed foods - granola, wraps, protein puddings, protein shakes, protein bagel. I'd really cut those out, for your health, stick to whole and unprocessed foods.

Agreed.
Also it’s just ok to get used to feeling a bit hungry.
Glass of water and an apple will see you through in between meals.

Lots more veg would be my tip, you need the fibre. Salads, soups, olives, fermented veg. Beans and lentils.

And some carb - you need it for energy.

The amount of protein you need is exaggerated really...and too much isn't great for you - so getting protein from natural sources is the way to go. Unless you are a super athlete

Doesn't sound too bad, OP.

I would just say lentils are your friend (if you like them) the sachets are so convenient, and try to incorporate as much green veg as you can.

I've given up with weight loss diets at the moment and am just trying to eat mindfully and 80/20 "clean" and the right amount.

I don't agree with the advice not to do any cardio as heart health and overall fitness is as important to me as being strong and flexible.

MrHarleyQuin · 15/07/2024 10:18

Also everyone is different, the one thing that made me ravenously hungry was Body Pump, and I didn't get on with it anyway.

Running and anything that gets my heart rate up to about 140bpm actually shuts off hunger, I find and the weights I do doesn't seem to add to hunger pangs. Feeling hungry is a good thing - you don't want to let it get to the stage where you are hangry and eating everything in sight though.

I've actually done much better lately. I still use protein powder if a morning and peanut butter powder in my yogurt as an extra protein boost but barring one specific protein yogurt I've avoided all gimmicky protein foods. Getting through alot of chicken still and I've never eaten do much salad and beg in my life but that's a good thing I think.

Have also made myself and measured out several portions of turkey bolognaise so on days where time is tight I have that and I've realky made more of an effort to get my shit together and taken.more food with me on days I'm not going home for a while to ensure I don't waste calories on crap.

Somehow I've accidentally lost half a stone in about a week I'm.mot even sure how jot been trying.

Agree with body pump making you hungry 🤣 does that count as cardio or strength training. Had a weeks holiday to take so so far I've managed 3 body combat sessions a body pump a spin another class similar to pump. Had my lifting pt session and managed 1 5k run still have another spin, 2 more combats a pump a yoga session to go this week and will get a work out and a 5 k run in there too. Rest of thr time.im.washimg my gear fir the next lot 🤣

bakewell I never used to be a breakfast person its growing on.me.slowly. I.add egg whites to my porridge with the protein and peanut butter powder and that lasts me now which is so much better.
