How should gym deal with unwashed, acrid BO on customers?

This is a moan but if anyone has any suggestions it would be good. There's been a problem at our gym for a few weeks with a couple of class members who don't appear to wash, wear clean kit or deodorant.

The smell is awful, this isn't sweaty tube carriage on a hot day smell, it's acrid BO that surrounds them and anyone in the vicinity. Other members are starting to avoid standing near them so they have a little space around the culprit. It's making the rest of us crowded.

The teacher has told the class everyone needs to keep themselves fresh but the people responsible have not made any changes.

Management don't think it's their problem, although they are still being asked to deal with it diplomatically. If they don't I think someone is going to gey really snappy with the people concerned. What is the etiquette here? A couple of people are making classes miserable for everyone.

Someone is going to have to tell them! That's all there is to it. Or put up with it. Those are your options

Would you be brave enough to say something? I've had to have that conversation twice with smelly people, but only at work which makes a difference I think. In a social setting it's harder.

I don't think the gym staff can be expected to speak to individuals about this. It is a horrible situation. It even makes me feel anxious, at such a huge remove from it. You either have to suck it up (euwww!!) or politely speak to the individuals yourself.

It makes me feel a bit paranoid, tbh. I always shower before a class, and wear freshly laundered clothes. But I know that there are some people for whom smells can still be present. What if I am one of those people? 😧

val you really won't be one of those people. It's an unwashed gym kit and no deodorant smell. Really shocking.

I think it is up to someone in the gym- class coordinator if there is one. Tell them that there is a very unpleasant smell in the studio; tell them you think it’s caused by 2 regularly unwashed people ; ask them to sort it out.
Keep complaining.

Not much to update so far, the gym ignored my second complaint so I've sent another one.

I noticed the lady in the changing room at the weekend. She'd had a shower but was putting her smelly gym top back on 😭😞. The smell was all over the changing area, I don't know how she hasn't twigged yet. I want to buy her a few more tops and some laundry powder!
