Trainers for Hiit/gym - help me please!

I want to get a new pair of trainers to wear mainly for Grit strength classes and gym, possibly a little running. My current old ones have no grip and I'm slipping in mountain climbers etc.

I was almost decided on a pair of Reebok nano x2 as tried them on in Sports Direct and they seem comfy and fit, although a little heel slippage and at £55 a good price. However looking more I wonder whether to get the X3 or the new X4. Both a bit more £, but I can get student discount on the X4 (£88).

Or do I just go cheaper? Will I notice the difference if I get the improved pair ( saw a review that said the X4 had better heel fit).

I've read Nike metcons are a little narrower and I'm not sure I like the weird bit on the side.

Any recommendations? Thanks.

Nike metcons and reebok nanos are the ones I hear about a lot (I have the former)

Depends how much running. If you're going to do anything more than the odd 5k I'd recommend the adidas Boston 12. Cost a fortune but like running on air!

You need to be careful as trainers for lifting and trainers for running are very different and I think you really need to two different pairs. The point of the shoes like Metcons is that they have very little cushioning to provide a more stable base for lifting. Running shoes are very cushioned and have a larger heel drop which makes them much harder to lift heavier weights in. I don't even walk to the gym in my weights shoes.
