I see the other CG thread and it inspired me to start at the Beginners Epic.
Anyone want to join me?

I have just done workout warm up and session 1 - lower body workout with no weights.

I am 58, overweight but do workout and I found it tough but doable with adaptations. Sitting squats and the kneel to squats was especially tough and I needed extra balance support.

But I a proud I have done it and will do session 2 tomorrow - who wants to join me.

Thanks to the other thread you got me off my butt!

l’ll try!

Coffeesnob11 · 14/12/2023 11:44

I did this exact workout this morning. I am 46 and used to be incredibly fit but poor mental health has meant my weight has ballooned and I have struggled to exercise. It was tough but I felt great afterwards.

ThCats · 14/12/2023 12:49

I'll give this a try, starting tomorrow

ThCats · 15/12/2023 07:35

This was super tough for me, I didn't finish, but I'm going to push on with the program and repeat it hoping to do more each time 😁

Cheeesus · 15/12/2023 07:46

What weights do you have? I am considering starting this but not sure if I have the right equipment. I see she uses 10kg weights in the third or fourth one.

Mangolover123 · 15/12/2023 22:51

I am going to keep to body weight but will buy a 10kg kettle bell at some point.
I plan to repeat it for a few weeks hoping to get stronger and stronger.

Thanks op-I’m in!

user50and · 15/12/2023 23:08

I'm in! 52 with about a stone to lose by May

RunSlowTalkFast · 15/12/2023 23:34

I've done it a few times and am now a few episodes into the first full epic programme, hoping I'll be able to dona proper push up soon!

RunSlowTalkFast · 15/12/2023 23:36

I have some 3kg dumbells plus adjustable dumbells that I currently have at 5kg and an 8kg kettlebell.

EtiennePalmiere · 16/12/2023 10:40

The stands squats were really something 😂
I do it with 2kg because I already had them from shoulder rehab and will be buying 4kg soon. If anyone wants a workout from her that's easier I like the standing abs with dumbbells one (I switch between 1 and 2 kg for that)

user50and · 16/12/2023 12:16

Sully question but do you do a workout every day until the end of the programme or do you have rest days??

Mangolover123 · 17/12/2023 14:32

I think do what you can. I had my last PT session on Fri. Had a break yesterday and I did day 2 today with adaptations. Can't do the plank work without. I can do a plant but shoulder taps and side lifts no way!
My guess is I will need to do at least 3 repeats to move on.
Well done everyone for getting started.

I don't understand the hamstring exercises near the end of day 1, what are we supposed to be doing there? I'm sure I ended up just flopping about 🤣

Coffeesnob11 · 18/12/2023 10:31

Completed session 3 this morning. My muscles are definitely complaining

Stencilplasttic · 18/12/2023 10:45

Looks interesting

Mangolover123 · 19/12/2023 11:51

Ok just "done" day 3.
I had to do the adaptations in most of the exercise, my face was sweating so must have being doing some good.
I think I will be repeating the 5 days for a few sessions yet!

Just keep cycling through them and one day you’ll do a whole vid and think ‘that was quite easy!’ And notice you aren’t shaking trying to stay in a dolphin hold plank or having to take a break in lunge holds/pulses etc.

And it’s a GREAT feeling. It will come. I promise.

I really enjoy CGs workouts and I can see some muscle definition and a bit of abs now after turning into a bit of a jelly for a couple of years.

MooseyMoo · 24/12/2023 13:15

I’m going to try this too … probably 27th Dec 😅 I’ve put on a lot of weight due to stress/ mental health. I’m a stress eater so need to break that habit and eat healthier.

l’m also going to take part in Yoga with Adrienne 30 days of Yoga.

LadyWithLapdog · 26/12/2023 10:57

This is tough. I did almost half of the leg one yesterday and 9 minutes of the day 2 today (and I thought upper body was my stronger bit). Better than nothing and I’ll get back to both later, I hope. I need a pre-beginners 😂

Mangolover123 · 26/12/2023 21:35

I am going to start again tomorrow. I am going to miss day 5 out this week but start through again.
I found day 4 the easiest!

LadyWithLapdog · 26/12/2023 23:52

I went back to finish day 1 and I couldn’t. I think it’s just too tough for me. I’ll be looking at other programs to start with. I used to like FitOn.

Coffeesnob11 · 27/12/2023 19:06

I have switched to her app and did day 2 of her beginners programme on there today. I can feel my stomach muscles for some reason.

Mangolover123 · 04/01/2024 12:54

Right I am back on it.
Warm up plus day 1 - completed this morning
Single leg chair squats impossible - I adapt to 2 legs and one leg with support.
Bulgarian lunges - well they are for Bulgarians, I did those on the floor.
It was tough, sweaty but completed, so I will take that.
