Waterproof running trainers

Any recommendations?

I live in a city so run mainly on paths in parks and pavements, sometimes on the playing fields. Lots of puddles and muddy at this time of year. But I'm not running up mountains or anything like that, so don't need to be super special ones or anything.

I've got waterproof socks rather than shoes (if I go through a deep puddle or stream if the water goes over the shoe and in there is no way it can get out if they are waterproof).

Honestly, I wouldn't bother - most normal running shoes drain really quickly anyway so I just splash through the puddles and get wet feet, but they don't hold the water like normal shoes would so they're not heavy and annoying. Then take the insoles out when you get home to allow them to dry quicker.

Yes, not what you're asking, but I find the Sealskinz waterproof crew socks good!

I've been beaten to it, I was coming to say don't bother but buy waterproof socks instead. I got some designed for cycling from Aldi and they are brilliant. I bought Adidas gore-tex trainers and they are really stiff and uncomfortable so the socks and my trusty brooks are my solution.

Oh good point, I forgot that waterproof = no water can get out either!

Will look into the socks.

I have these Salomon trail shoes and I love them. My 20 year old daughter also assures me they are super-cool and a desirable fashion item Grin

I’d add my voice for those suggesting waterproof socks rather than shoes.

No water out also includes sweat - which as grim as it sounds is not as grim in putting your shoe back into a sweaty running shoe!
