First 10K run tomorrow!

I started C25k in April, moved on to 10K before summer and I’m on week 12 (so running 30mins, walking for 5 then running for 15mins)

I’ve signed up for a 10K run tomorrow! It’s twice round a 5k course with hills, am I mad?! Even if I walk some of it I know I can do it but would really like to run as much as possible. Anyone got any tips?

Good luck and well done!

have fun!

the crowd will push you along.

top tip: go to the toilet with plenty of time before starting (queues!)
and enjoy whatever snacks they hand out afterwards.
have a jumper/fleece handy (on your support person) so that you don't get cold before you can retrieve your stuff.

the feeling of achievement will be amazing.

Good tips thank you! Unfortunately I’ll be on my own (I’m away for the weekend, birthday treat for myself) but I’m sure there will be other people supporting other people on the route!

Sorry no tips just huge admiration!
Well done!

How exciting!

tips:

  1. set off slower than you think you should
  2. listen to music/podcast/enjoy the surroundings
  3. try and find someone a similar pace and fall into pace with them
  4. before you start do some active stretches (loads of good videos online - but ‘open the gate’ and ‘feed the chickens’ are the classics!) and at the end walk a cool down and stretch.
Enjoy!

good Luck and well done.

is it in a northern town. I am going to a 10k tomorrow. I am hosting a charity stall in the event village. Wonder if it could be the same one ( probably not, but you never know )

Im further south, Wendover Woods. I’ve run around it a couple times recently but never this exact routine. There are definitely hills though!

Thank you - I’ll have a look for some videos of these. I normally do a 5min walk but guess that won’t be possible so need another warm up routine
