39 and want to start building muscle

Hi there just looking for some advice to start building muscle mass while losing some weight. I need to lose about a stone from pregnancy and want to try something like kick boxing at home with youtube videos. Is it possible to do without getting ravenously hungry? I'm not overly unfit, just want to invest a bit for the future. It doesn't have to be kick boxing it's just something I enjoy! Any advice appreciated

You need a strength training program of progressive overload to build muscle- I think Caroline Girvan is a good starting point for at home workouts. Boxing sounds good for high intensity training / fat burning.

You need your calories in a good place i.e. eating at maintenance to build muscle/lose fat. You shouldn't be excessively hungry.

Kick boxing is more cardio than strength, I don't think it will be the most effective way to build muscle if that's your goal. You should do strength training with weights. You could go to a personal trainer for a couple of sessions as they will be able to show you exactly what to do and design a plan for you to do at home.
