Swimming - verrucas, etc

I really like lane swimming but have a couple of really stubborn verrucas on one foot. At least I think they're verrucas.

Do people still wear those white sock things like we did 30 years ago or is there something better? I looked at buying one on Amazon but loads of reviews say they just rip.

How about a thin neoprene sock?

lljkk · 02/08/2023 21:10

I swim regularly.
It's very rare I see those socks, very very occasionally on kids is all. Am pretty sure most people with veruccas don't know &/or don't sock up.

Hellocatshome · 02/08/2023 21:24

The advice from varjous swimming organisations now is to not bother covering them up.

I’d get a dedicated pair of swimming pool flipflops to wear in the showers and changing rooms. I think the risk of passing the virus along in the pool itself is minimal because of the chlorine.

TossacointoHenryCavill · 02/08/2023 21:28

And dedicating the flipflops to the pool only is just so you’re not trecking dirt through the pool showers and changing rooms.

coodawoodashooda · 02/08/2023 21:29

Try that bazuka stuff.or the duct tape trick. I haven’t seen the socks in years.

Misstabithabean · 02/08/2023 22:32

I wear swim shoes called Slipfree. I spent a lot of money getting a verruca microwaved so I'm trying to avoid catching any more!

My son has recently developed a verucca and I was surprised to find that the swimming pool don't sell verucca socks.

Sugarfree23 · 03/08/2023 07:43

Flip-flops around the pool.
Socks are a thing for the history books.

I had a very stubborn verruca for about 17 years, podiatrist 'dry needled' it, ie pushed it a little deeper into the skin to engage an immune response and poof it went like magic!

StamppotAndGravy · 03/08/2023 08:45

Most regular swimmers wear flip flops, which will avoid you spreading or catching them in the showers. Bare feet in a swimming pool always seems asking for trouble, partly just for the slip hazard! The chlorine should kill most stuff in the water

PositiveLife · 03/08/2023 12:31

Thanks, I'll get some flip flops.

I’ve had this problem and duct tape works ! I now wear flip flops religiously around the pool

Coronationstation · 10/08/2023 11:28

I had a couple of veruccas that I just couldn't swift with the over the counter remedies and they were starting to hurt when I walked so I paid to have them frozen off by the chiropodist. Since then I've always worn a cheap pair of flipflops around the pool and changing rooms and never had them return.
