Zumba for a complete beginner

Help please! I'd like to start some kind of dance fit class, and Zumba seems to be the best thing my leisure centre offers.

Should I turn up as a complete beginner? Or watch something in advance (if so, what?)?

Anything I should do before going?

How often should I go, if I like it?

And what should I wear?

Thank you!

Hi,

You could watch some Zumba on YouTube, but of course there’s no guarantee the class will do the routines you’ve watched. But it will give you an idea of the types of moves involved.

Don’t worry if you struggle to get the hang of the moves, you’ll pick it up as time goes on if you keep going. If you lose the plot, just freestyle it or march on the spot till you are able to pick up the moves again.

Wear something like leggings and a tshirt, trainers. Bring water and probably a small towel for when you get hot and sweaty.

If you like it, go as often as you like. Hope you enjoy it!

I wear leggings, a sports tshirt and a decent sports bra (I have big boobs!). Also wear trainers and take water.

Some tracks can be fast but if you find yourself going the wrong way it doesn't matter. I go twice a week in between other classes I like (pump, attack and combat)

Thank you both! That's really helpful.

I'm going to book a class and hopefully enjoy it! Will report back.
