Anyone fancy joining me for a very gentle 5k?

I put my running shoes on today for the first time since nearly dying of appendicitis in February. I trundled round the local Park Run 5K course (not while Park Run was on) in about 61 minutes. I'm not feeling brave enough to do Park Run properly yet but I've set myself the goal of regular Park Runs and a 5K race/fun run by the end of the year.

I'm not pushing myself for any kind of competitive finish time, I'll just be happy to get to the end.

Anyone fancy some encouragement, training talk and food chat? There'll be cake in my food chat... and the training is all about listening to my body, not pushing myself.

Hi, I would love to do this. I started couch to 5k at the gym a few years ago, but could not make it past 8 minutes. I have problems with my feet and I suffer a bit because of that. I think I just need a really decent pair of running shoes.
I would love to be able to run 5k!

Happy to cheer you on! I'm on week 4 of C25k, I can't remember when I started...5 or 6 weeks ago. I have a condition so also taking it slow but building up to a Park Run.

Would "Jeffing" work better for you? Basically regular, short run/ walk intervals. 30s walking. You can choose the run length and it could be as little as 15s, it doesn't have to be more than the running portion.

Well done! Getting out there is the biggest step. In the mean time why don’t you volunteer at parkrun, it might get your confidence up that you really don’t need to be at a particular level to take part
