Does anyone do cross fit?

Hi I used to love my high intensity gym classes. Never really got into anything else tried running and general bannatynes style gym classes. I’ve had a baby and the gym I used to go to has moved. Around the same distance away there is a cross fit gym. I’ve always wanted to give it a go (when I was at peak fitness!) but I’m currently very unfit and have around 3 stone to lose!

I was thinking of trying a class on Tuesday night can anyone give me a push into it! I always find it daunting going to a new gym!

I did and really enjoyed it.

however I very much felt at 50 and getting back into fitness I was holding people up, especially on the partner work outs. The young fitsters would be standing around while I huffed and puffed my way through a set.

the workouts where I could struggle on without affecting anyone else were great though. But they never publish workouts in advance.

i did about 9 months before lockdown, I only managed 2 or 3 times a week so never got anywhere near the ones who went every day. Haven’t gone back after lockdown as I put 3 stone on, lost all the fitness and couldn’t face it 😳.

I do CrossFit and bloody love it!

In my experience everyone is super friendly and helpful. Everything is adaptable and you obviously choose the weights that are right for you so everyone can do the same work out. It's surprisingly non competitive and supportive.

I love the constant variety, the fact that everything is coached and the fact that I get a better workout in an hour that I used to get from spending hours in conventional gyms.

It's hard the first time you walk through the door but honestly, it's fab!

I used to crossfit and left for a year and did no exercise. I started back last week and am the unfit one! I'm 55, I love it and know that it will work. I give myself 3 months at my age to feel like I am in the mix fitness wise again.

Update - I did my first class tonight and really enjoyed it! Although I doubt I will be able to walk tomorrow 😂 hoping if I do 2-3 times a week I will start to see a difference soon 🤞🤞

Im also stronger than I originally thought! I think having some idea after doing gym classes in the past boot camp style, involving weights has helped!

Hi @Cookiedough123 I know this is an old thread but just wondered if you kept up CrossFit and how you're finding it now? I started 2 months ago, twice a week for the first month and 3 times a week since. I can't say I enjoy the workouts (they almost kill me) but I do enjoy the results and the mental benefits.
