Garmin Forerunner 255S or Fenix 6S Pro

Morning...
I'm looking at getting one or the other for running and general exercise (I have a computer for the bike) but want to know if:

  1. I'll get hacked off not having full maps for routes (pre planned runs in unfamiliar areas) if I buy the FR255.
  2. The breadcrumb routing works well as a navigation aid (again, in unfamiliar places with pre-planned routes).
  3. The size/weight will be uncomfortable if I buy the F6S Pro (my wrist diameter is 147mm).
  4. The HR and GPS just isn't as good on the F6S Pro.

I need the longer battery life as I'm planning on some long events over the year so the Venu/Vivo/others are out.

Surely there's some people here who have experience of both can give some advice.

Any particular reason why you've gone for the Forerunner 255, rather than say the 945, which isn't that different in price to a Fenix 6?

I don't use the maps function much, but it looks to me as if the watches in the 900 series have a lot of functions.

If the maps are wrong and the watch too clunky, you'll resent it all the time, so I'd say not a Fenix

Wild card - have you ever looked at a Coros?

Looks like there isn’t much difference in face size on the 255s snd F6Spro - 41mm vs 42mm , its more the weight - 39g vs 61g . That said I used to have a 225 and the weight of that was fine - 54g. I have a 255s and love it, but I don’t use maps.

I can't afford a full price 945 but might be able to get a bargain second hand F6S Pro for not dissimilar to a 255S.

I'm just torn about if I'll miss full maps on the 255S as I've never used breadcrumb trails before. I'm wondering if the turn by turn is effective to nav by.
