Getting rid of 'bingo wings'? Exercises?

I am 47 and my arms are starting to get flabby underneath. What is the best exercise for this?

I’m 33, I’m not overweight but I have bingo wings, I can’t stand them and don’t understand how I have flabby skin. I’m currently lifting weights to target all the arm muscles but I’m making sure I’m doing the ones specifically for triceps too. I’ve not been doing it long enough to see progress yet but I’m hoping if I can stick to it I should see a change in a few months time.

Take up clay pigeon shooting. It's much more fun than exercising, and lifting an 8lb gun in a controlled manner 100 times while shooting a round of English Sporting will leave you with perfectly toned arms. 😊

swimming!

I do weights and has sorted out my arms. They don’t need to be heavy gym weights but regular weights work outs has been a game changer for me and I have nice toned arms and in my 50s

How long did it take for you to see results?

Tricep exercises - dips, pulls, etc. Dumbbells or cable machines are useful if you can access a gym, or you could find some home workouts. Invest in some weights or use things around the house.

Also look at generally toning the upper body - arms, shoulders and back. It all works together so you’ll be stronger, more toned and defined.

Holly Dolke's arms workout videos on YouTube are amazing - I did them every other day for a while and it really made a difference. Going to restart any day now!

Fit by Mik on YouTube also has lots of short vids for arms. Weights is the way to go.

KillingLoneliness within a few weeks If your not overweight and it’s simply to do with toning it works quickly .

Definitely weights. Got arms and legs now a kick I'm the arse off 50 better than I did in my teens.

Thank you! No I’m not underweight, i just want to tone up as my arms don’t get used and I’m so bloody weak! I really want to tone up and get stronger but I know it’s a long process

LuciferRising · 02/02/2023 22:20

For arms, what weight would you suggest?

Sidge · 04/02/2023 15:01

@LuciferRising thats a tricky one to state as it will depend on your current state of strength and fitness.

You want to start with a weight that you can lift 10 to 15 times with proper form. Begin with 1 or 2 sets of 10 to 15 repetitions, and slowly progress to 3 sets or more. Gradually increase the weight. When you can easily do the recommended number of sets and reps, increase the weight by 5 to 10 percent.

So one person might be able to start with 4 or 5kg dumbbells, depending on the exercise. Someone else might need to start with a 2 or 3kg dumbbell, or even a 1kg weight if they are really weak.

The number you start with doesn’t matter at all though as the important thing is it’s your personal journey and as long as you make progress the weights themselves don’t really matter.

Swimming works for me

rabbithearted · 04/02/2023 16:13

I can't say this is something I've ever focused on or cared about, and I'm kind of upset it was put into my head
