Am really missing running - the pavements are mostly not gritted and are sheet ice around here. The roads too busy with cars to safely run on (and lots of the roads are also icy and ungritted).

Am really missing my morning runs.....am going out for a walk but its not the same 😕

I just went out for a crunchy walk across the fields with my audio book.
My head torch made the frost settling on the snow look like tiny diamonds.
It was a bit dicey on the footpaths which run along side the ditches - slip in there and I wouldn't be found until the Spring!
I did slip right near home and lost an ear pod, but as they are not white Airpods, but black ones I could easily see it!
Jammies on now!

Getting fat!

Surely "recovery week" would put a more positive spin on it!

Still running here, but picking the sunny side of the streets where the ice has melted then getting into fields/woods as much as possible. Did manage to find the only soggy puddle in 10 miles to fall into yesterday 🤬 which was unwelcome

Slower running on footpaths and mainly off road.

Gravel paths, gritted roads at quiet times and more swimming. It's rained here so the cycle back from the pool was lethal this evening

I've been out with my running group this evening head torch running over fields. Cold and crunchy underfoot but very enjoyable

I’m walking 4 miles a day, and hoping I’ll still be able to run when when the weather improves

When it snows or is very icy I run round the edges of the golf course. There are no golfers in this weather. Also run in the woods and on the grass in the park. I walk the short pavement sections to get to the golf course but would also drive a bit if necessary. Running on snowy/frizen grass is lovely.

You will, I guarantee it.

I was due an intervals speedwoek session today but decided to do them on frozen grass with trail shoes instead.

Much tougher workout with slower paces but still glad I did it.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 16/12/2022 09:21

I have a dreadmill in my garage but I've been going off road in my grippiest trail shoes

dameofdilemma · 16/12/2022 09:46

I remember the last time it snowed like this (2020?) I did an outdoor online HIIT session with a PT. I thought I was going to have heart failure at one point.
Give me a run any day.

Doing online classes from home, and planning to get out a lot when it warms up a bit at the weekend. I can't run when there's a risk of slipping, it's like my head seizes up and stops me...

RunBecause · 16/12/2022 10:00

I carry on as normal though shorter and slower. These are a game changer - I used Koldkutter screws from eBay.

Treadmill or I wear Inov8 Oroc 290’s that have spikes on the bottom. I’m lucky that I have a beach nearby so can run there if the tide is in my favour.

Spudlet · 16/12/2022 10:08

I’m a trail runner, so I’ve been running 😁 I did leave ddog at home on Tuesday though - we do canicross but I was running home from dropping DS off and didn’t fancy trying to navigate the pavement from the school to the off-road bit with an overexcited Labrador attached to me…

Thecatisboss · 16/12/2022 11:17

Yak trax for me too I went out last night with them on and felt really confident.
