Just finished c25k but am so slow! I want to pick up speed but in a consistent way .. would be good if I could find an app that tells me every couple of minutes or so that tells me what my average pace is so I can work out how much further I need to push myself .. Strava tells me after I have finished but I need ti know during run and preferably without having to get phone out of belt .. anyone any suggestions?

Strava will tell you your average pace every half k. Is that what you mean?

BeneficiaryMadness · 01/08/2022 21:01

You need a Garmin watch or something similar that tells you the pace you’re running.

HouseofGods · 01/08/2022 21:01

MapMyRun will do this too. You can set it for how often it tells you so, for example,
I have it every km so it tells me total time, total distance, current km pace and then average km pace.

You need a Garmin or Fitbit watch. I have both. You can just check your pace as you go. I've also used Strava to yell at me every 1km, not sure it'll yell as often as you want.

i have an Apple Watch but wanted it to talk to me .. I use Strava to tell me how slow I was at the end .. didn’t know it could update me during the run so will check for that .. will look at MapMyRun as well as want to eventually do longer runs - thanks to you all!

Nike Run Club
Tells you after you complete every km

Run keeper is what you need.
At intervals it tells you how far you have run and what your pace is.

season2 · 01/08/2022 21:32

Runkeeper will talk to you and give you your speed. You can set the frequency of updates, what info is conveyed in the update as well as the accent. I went with French for a few Ooh lah lah's. It maps and provides a workout sumoat the end. I only switched to Strava to be more social as everyone I know is on strava but I personally preferred runkeeper!

Isonthecase · 01/08/2022 21:41

My Garmin has a strong that tells you what your current pace is and beeps aggressively if you go too fast or too slow with a flash up of which. Think it's on all of them from the cheap ones up.

My DH's Apple Watch tells him every km and pace (mine would too, but I switched the function off).

You could also try doing some intervals - this will help improve your pace overall. As will longer runs, and hill training (all of these things I find hideous, so I don't take my own advice Grin)

FROM THE APPLE SITE:
How to start a running workout
Open the Workout app.

Scroll to Outdoor Run or Indoor Run.

Tap the More button the More icon to set a calorie, distance or time goal. To set a pace alert for an Outdoor Run, scroll down, tap Set Alert or set your time, then select Average, Rolling or Off.
Tap Start.
Wait for the three-second countdown. To skip the countdown, tap the screen.

Garmin. But don’t worry too much about pace, easy runs are good for building fitness. You could always sign up for a race to check ability and progress.
