How long do your swimming goggles last?

Jewel1968 · 22/07/2022 12:12

I tend to buy Speedo flexseal which I find to be excellent but after about 6 months they start to leak. I swim 2 or 3 times a week.

Any tips on how to get them to last longer or is there a better brand out there?

Thanks

They all leak the very first day I buy them...
I think my face might be very strange shape or asymetrical.

I dunno what should happen, I just soldier on for years with some.

The Speedo flexseal is really very good (maybe try them?) but as I said lasts me only 6 months. Apparently according to Google that is normal. Oh well

Give them a rinse to get the chlorine off after every swim if you’re not already. Maybe have more than one pair and alternate?
I use Zone 3 goggles and swim 3/4 times a week, and mine last longer than six months definitely.

I wear Aquasphere Eagles and as long as I wash them with anti chlorine shampoo after pool swims they last for years

MigsandTiggs · 23/07/2022 10:32

OP, any anti-fog recommendations?

minuette1 · 23/07/2022 10:43

I've had Zoggs anti-fog ones for about 5 years now - I swim 2-3 times a week and they are still going strong 🥽

radaradaradar · 23/07/2022 11:07

Same as you OP, I've never had a pair that lasted over 6 months.

Plutoisaplanet · 23/07/2022 11:28

As a pp said, make sure you rinse them after use. I’ve had the same ones for years

abovedecknotbelow · 23/07/2022 12:35

I've had my polarised zoggs for years, swim 5 times a week.

Time40 · 23/07/2022 13:01

I've had mine so long that I can't remember how old they are ... maybe 7 or 8 years, and I swim daily in the summer. Mine don't leak (I've had plenty of pairs that have leaked, though - takes ages to hit on the right pair). Mine are a brand called Fitness, and they were £1.99 in Home Bargains!

Jewel1968 · 24/07/2022 09:33

I do rince. Looks to me like Zoggs are the next ones I should try.

The Speedo flexseal are brilliant while they work. Very comfortable and no fog whatsoever. Maybe I don't rince them well enough. I have already ordered a new pair so I will be more thorough with my rince.

It could be that my pool is also very heavily chlorinated. I do get a very allergic response myself when I get out of pool. Have to use beconase to address which does work. Started to happen around lockdown when I suspect they increased the chlorine.

Off to research Zoggs for the next purchase.

Don't have a Home bargains nearby otherwise would be off there.

Just been in to HB and goggles are now £2.49 in 3 different colours 😊

Swim goggles don't go from perfect to trashed in one day. They deteriorate a little bit each day. It will be up to you and your swimmer to determine when the lenses are too scratched or they're not watertight anymore. Frequent swimmers will need to replace their swimming goggles at least every 6 months.
