Hello fellow swimmers, Can anyone tell me what I need to do to gain access to the Serpentine Lido? Do I need to book ahead or just turn up? What are the opening times? Information like that would be great, and is missing from the Royal Parks website. Thinking of going end of June. Thank you!

I'd be interested too @snorkeltheelephant. The opening times that PP has posted isn't what I'm interested in (and it sounds like you too) - it's more the systems around it.

I have a feeling it's a bit clubby and everyone will know the etiquette except me, but I have no idea if that's true!

Thank you Apollo and Daphne!

I actually don't think they have released the date it will be open to the public so maybe you need to wait until they do that then you will getbooking info?

The Royal Parks guy got back to me and they open in July. No date yet.

At the moment only club members in the mornings.

Don't worry about etiquette, I think swimmers are very welcoming. However, I asked the Royal parks dude to put up a bit more info for non-locals like us.

From the website:

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for a public swim in the Serpentine Lido, or to hire a boat in Hyde Park or The Regent’s Park when we reopen these services in July this year. This includes children’s hand-paddle boats, which will be available for hire at the Children’s Boating Lake in The Regent’s Park.

Please excuse us for the slightly later opening this year. This is because we are making the necessary preparations to operate these services in-house. We will be making lots of changes, some more visible than others, such as a new boat fleet provided under The Royal Parks brand, to make sure everyone continues to have a safe and enjoyable experience. The usual seasonal operational dates will resume in 2023.

Please keep an eye on our website for further details on the opening date this July, including booking information, which will be announced shortly.
