I am getting on well doing random growingannanas videos. I like the fact she has loads with no jumping - two kids and dodgy joints mean I try to avoid being airborne. I found a good one last week that has an ab burner at the end. I don’t feel strong enough for the CG ones her, but I am getting there.

BigButtons · 01/06/2022 08:24

Fuel day three glutes.
I normally dread glute days; the endless weighted/banded hip thrusts are boring. But today's was bloody fantastic. Lots of lunge variations to get the heart rate up, really great set up. 60 seconds of one set followed straight away of 30 seconds of something similar.
The finisher was something else. 7 minutes of glute bridge variations. Will deffo be revisiting this one! I finally got my weights spot on today. 11.5 kg- enough to challenge but not compromise form and 23 kg for hip thrusts and sumo deadlifts.

Agree @BigButtons, Fuel Day 3 was great! I've decided I like Fuel, I feel like I'm being pushed a bit harder than usual thanks to the cardio elements.

BigButtons · 01/06/2022 11:02

@MarisPiper92 yes I am warming to it now I have got over the shock of the first day. I was sure I was going to Jack it in. Having said that I think she said she is going to up the cardio a lot from next week so I might change my mind again!
I need to stop being frightened of being out of breath, so I should keep going!

@BigButtons I feel the same, I need to remind myself that being out of breath is not a bad thing! (A bit like being hungry, haha)

I've just done the 30 min full body dumbbells and the 15 min biceps.i have a slightly dodgy knee so don't love lunges but would like to start a CG series. Is there one that isn't too lunge-heavy? Alternatively is it ok just to do squats instead for those sets?

Forgotmypasswordsgain · 01/06/2022 15:53

Day 50 endgame completed this morning 🥳🎉 I really enjoyed the mix of weights and cardio and would gladly repeat this one (although without the 100 chest to floor burpee finisher!). Hoping fuel will be similar from the descriptions so I plan to start from Monday as I’m away for a few days.

FlowerArranger · 01/06/2022 21:20

@Animalism - as a shameless substituter and modifier I say go right ahead as I feel it's always better to do something than nothing, as well as avoiding injury.

One legs workout I like and which is very (deceptively...) effective is Lucy's Thighs and Glutes:

FlowerArranger · 01/06/2022 21:23

As well as Lucy's Thighs and Glutes (see my post above), you may want to try Rebecca Louise's Best Abs and the Bowflex 3-minute plank. Great for getting into shape and ready for Caroline!!

FlowerArranger · 01/06/2022 21:27

Sorry, this was in reply to @Direwolfwrangler 😀

Direwolfwrangler · 02/06/2022 20:42

Thanks @FlowerArranger

This thread is great, I’ve managed to get myself into a decent routine since I found you all.

prescribingmum · 02/06/2022 22:56

Completed Iron D8 and 9 over past 2 days and I am so stiff! Going to struggle to walk tomorrow and have a day trip with DC planned!

Only 3 weeks in but my legs are so much more toned, seeing a small difference in my arms too but think will need more drastic dietary changes for this to be extended to other parts of my body.

Melassa · 03/06/2022 09:21

just about to do day 22 Iron, and I’m going to attempt 12kg instead of the usual 10kg (to CG’s 20). Yesterday I finally got around to day 21 with the step ups. I didn’t find the step ups hard but oh my I had jelly legs at the end for the heel squats.

Only 8 more days of Iron then I might try Fuel. I used to enjoy getting out of breath, in fact I used to deliberately chose sports that were cardio intense, however nowadays I just feel sick if too intense. Which is probably why I need to do more cardio!

Animalism · 03/06/2022 10:16

Day 1 leg day of Iron using 7.5kg dumbbells and a 10kg kettlebell for some of the things where she's using one weight. I will feel this tomorrow! Need to do more abs- might try the rebecca louise

Animalism · 03/06/2022 10:39

...and 15 min standing abs with 2kg and some 7.5kg. Can feel it in my arms a bit but not abs so much!

FlowerArranger · 03/06/2022 10:46

Her Best Abs is a great workout - I still do it at least 2-3 times a week. Just remember to turn the sound off... LOL

SophieLion · 03/06/2022 12:01

Hello 👋 I've been rubbish at posting (but am following the thread). I finished the iron series today. Thought it was great! Really enjoyed it.

Now looking forward to starting Fuel on Monday. Looks interesting and varied.

Yes for the love of all things good turn the sound down😂

I actually stumbled across another Rebecca Louise video where she was talking about relationship stuff. Definitely a sound firmly off you-tuber. 😂

on a completely unrelated note, I’ve noticed from my fitbit that my resting heart rate is lower compared to earlier this year. I must be getting fitter despite my aversion to burpees.

fishonabicycle · 05/06/2022 08:08

Day 49 endgame done (excellent workout). Looking forward to Iron now.

What Anna one us good for quads? Mine are useless!

FlowerArranger · 05/06/2022 08:34

If you search for legs and gutes (and weights), lots of workouts come up, including this one:

I often add in weights, even if she doesn't. Same when I do abs workouts - just makes it a bit more challenging and useful.

fishonabicycle · 05/06/2022 17:00

Just been down your neck of the woods buttons! Went to Anne of Cleve's house and a mooch round Lewes.

prescribingmum · 06/06/2022 11:26

Had a break from CG workouts but have been doing lots of digging in the garden, my stamina has definitely increased but I really need to strengthen my lower back. I found the bending over so difficult after a point and just in the weak point of my back. It was never the best but back to back pregnancy and breastfeeding for 4 years really destroyed it.

Iron Day 10 completed today, my arms were like jelly by the end! Will do HIIT and pilates tomorrow before back to iron.

BigButtons · 06/06/2022 17:31

@fishonabicycle that is literally round the corner from me! Did you enjoy yourself?

I did day 6 fuel today and day 5 yesterday.
Today was all quads baby. My favourite day. Hurt like a b*tch though. used 12.5kg for all the weighted ones and sweated like a pig in a sauna. These fuel sessions all very much cardio based, in fact my heart rate is often in peak zone for short periods. I am getting used to it!
