I'm desperately in need of losing some weight and toning up, have just downloaded the app and am encouraged by everyone's experiences! Now I just need to find the time to complete the workouts...

@DottyDry brilliant weight loss!! I have 4 stone to go Blush

SynchOrSwim · 03/05/2023 09:41

@MsBarbaraGood I need to lose a similar amount!

BigButtons · 04/05/2023 14:52

Gah- My phone will not load this tread. I have no idea why- all other MN threads are fine. Even my iMac doesn't like it much. Sorry I don't post on here much- I barely get it to load your posts let alone comment on them.
I am holding off on the app until they sort the casting issues out. No way am I paying for something on top of the app to cast it to my tv. I'll just plug on with a run of heat.

So I've just finished my second week of the Epic workouts...when will I start to look like CG?? Grin

MsBarbaraGood · 04/05/2023 23:43

@SynchOrSwim I weighed my DTS1 the other day, he weighs about the same amount as I have to lose Blush I keep thinking how depressing it is that I need to lose a whole little person - he's 7!

I don't think the meal section is working very well for me on the app, must keep trying. Like @MelonB I'm keen to look like Caroline ASAP please Grin although I have to say that even at the peak of my fitness about 15 a few years ago, I never had abs anything like hers!

SynchOrSwim · 05/05/2023 13:51

I've done two weeks of beginners and just started day 1 of Iron yesterday. That was a LOT of squats and lunges, my poor knees!

FrostyFifi · 05/05/2023 13:59

So I've just finished my second week of the Epic workouts...when will I start to look like CG??

Sorry, that's not till week 4.

In all seriousness I've been doing CG for well over a year and I look nothing like her but from what I've noticed on the fb group, people that are obviously ripped are very into their macro tracking as well.
While I may not look like her, or them, I can feel the mucles and feel so much fitter and stronger and that's what makes me happy.

SynchOrSwim · 05/05/2023 14:56

Lol @ Sorry, that's not till week 4.
😁

MsBarbaraGood · 05/05/2023 23:09

Loving the encouragement about week 4 @FrostyFifi Grin

I think developing abs like that is partly hard work exercising, partly putting lots of effort into eating right, and partly genetic luck! I have a friend who's tall and slim and has loads of energy - I couldn't believe it when I met her sister, who was small and plump. Turns out my friend takes after her dad and her sister takes after their mum, they look nothing alike!

You have literally just described my SILs 😂
One tall, slim, sporty, eats like a horse and never gains weight. One short and curvy and just needs to look at food... They don't even have the same hair or eye colour!

samthebordercollie · 08/05/2023 09:15

Endgame finished! My favourite programme so far - I've definitely put on some muscle with it. I've decided not to start the Beastmode App programme yet, I started Epic 3 today instead.
The App is designed to work with Chromecast, so if you can't cast to your TV because it's a few years old, Chromecast is a definite solution to get the App workouts on a bigger screen.

BigButtons · 08/05/2023 12:51

@samthebordercollie does that work with an iPhone? I don't want to have to pay extra to cast to my tv- seems madness.
I have just finished my second round of endgame and back on a second round of heat. Epic three is my absolute favourite of them all though. I did 2 rounds of that as well!

samthebordercollie · 08/05/2023 13:39

@BigButtons yes, the Chromecast works with both Android and iPhone (I have an iPhone too). Once you start playing the video on the CGX app there's an icon too right and if you click on that it will look for the Chromecast device and then cast the video on the TV screen. It was a real relief to find it because the third party apps were all awful as was the quality of the casting (plus most you had to pay eventually)

This explains it better. Airplay from my iPhone doesn't work to my TV but no problem with Chromecast

ladybranstonpickle · 09/05/2023 08:54

Hi everyone, thought I should probably check in...I've been away and mega bus with work, so haven't done a workout in nearly 3 weeks (gulp!). But I downloaded the new app, and did day 1 of Beast Mode yesterday! I'm feeling pretty proud as I had been out all day in central London with my daughter and was feeling quite wiped - but got it done! I absolutely love the app and already found an article to be really useful - the protein and muscle building one, to be precise.

My new mission to try to do my workouts in the mornings before my daughter gets up. Evening workouts are getting hard and harder as she is going to bed later...and my days at work are so full on I need to start as soon as I can after nursery dropoff. I used to squeeze it in between drop off and logging on but I think those days are over!

Does anyone here get up early to do them? I'll need to be up and warming up by 610am at the latest I think, in order to have a shower and still help my daughter get dressed. What tips do you have? How do you make it work?

SynchOrSwim · 09/05/2023 18:41

I'm lucky enough to work from home 3 days a week so I do it on my lunch breaks mostly.

My DD is often up not long after 5am so no chance I'm doing it before she gets up!

DryIce · 09/05/2023 21:44

I get up early to do mine I must admit, I get up at 530 as the kids are awake anytime between 6 and 7.

It is a pain but once you get used to it so satisfying to have it done before real life commences!

Diggersandunicorns · 05/06/2023 21:49

Oh my god. I’ve just done Epic 1, day 1, and it was so much tougher than I was expecting. My legs weren’t burning, they were shaking. Then after, I had to walk two steps down in to my kitchen and my leg gave way and I fell on the floor. No pain, it just turned to jelly! Dog came and gave me a cuddle.

It gets better right?! I thought I was reasonably fit, walking hills for an hour a day and running or swimming a day or two a week. Carrying small children all the time. I was wrong.

I’m not giving up, but I did have to come down the stairs on my bum just now. Can’t have my legs giving way on top of a whole flight.

BigButtons · 06/06/2023 06:26

Lol! Yes it does get better. Epic one is a tough series and I nearly chucked it all in after day 7. Infact I stated this thread years ago because of it. If it’s too much switch to a different one. I mean they are all hard but perhaps a shorter series like advent would be more manageable to start with?!

themessygarden · 06/06/2023 06:35

Are the app glitches ironed out yet ?

I am not interested in only being able to use it on my phone, so will only purchase it once it's easy to play it on the TV. It sounds like it's a great app and I love the idea of the exercises being explained in detail, I always thought that is the shortfall in the youtube videos. Thanks.

Diggersandunicorns · 06/06/2023 07:32

@BigButtons do you mean week day 7, the end of week HIIT, or video 7? I’m trying to do this week’s in 5 days as I’m walking a half marathon on Sunday and wanted a rest day before!

I’m really going to try and stick with Epic, it’s 10 weeks till I go on holiday so hoping it’ll force me to stick to a 10 week programme! I wrongly assumed the first series would be the easiest.

BigButtons · 06/06/2023 07:56

@Diggersandunicorns I mean Epic one day 7. It is infamous. If you struggle drop the weights completely. That one is one of her three toughest leg days of all time😖😳. Just keep going with it and modify where you have to. You will get much stronger over time- i promise. Most folk think they are 'reasonably' fit before starting CG but she is on another level. She will make you masses fitter and stronger than you are now. And you will develop mental and physical stamina and amazing functional strength!

I bought a chromecast and cast it to my TV, it seems to work well. I know it's another thing to buy on top, but I'm pleased I did it

I did Epic first as a total beginner and it was quite a shock to the system!!! Worth sticking with though if you can, now I'm doing some other programs and finding them easier (very relatively speaking!!) in comparison .
