Inspire me - Going from inflexible to a bit flexible!

Hi I am 47 but have the flexibility of what feels like a 70 year old. This is due to recurrent lower back injuries, probably a natural lack of flexibility and I'm overweight.

I'm recognising that it's something that I should be working on now and is probably reasonably simple to improve

Can you recommend a YouTube channel or similar for this - note I find yoga for neon era usually too challenging so need to start with something easier?

Have you improved your own flexibility and can inspire me with your story?

Neon era? I guess that's a typo but I can't work out what for! I wouldn't dismiss yoga. There's a bunch of us on the yoga board who have been doing (almost daily) Yoga with Adriene since January 1st. You can adapt to make it easier. I was really stiff and it's definitely helped. Come and join us!

Neon era = beginners, not sure how that happened! I'll take a look at the thread thanks

Pilates all day long. I'm 20 years older than you, but after 6 months of weekly classes I can get on and off the mat without assistance, put my knickers on without having to sit down and put my socks on in silence!

Oh, and I have a waistline for the first time in 20 years as well.

Recommended.

Another suggesting pilates.

Hello 👋🏻
I have found my people. I'm concerned that my inflexibility is causing me to have bad posture, amongst a few other niggles. Never been able to touch my toes in all my life.
Those recommending Pilates- do you do yours online?

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 17/04/2022 20:36

I started pilates 18 months ago because I have a very sedentary job and had 2 bad goes of sciatica. I'm nearly 47. Have found pilates really excellent for general flexibility and preventing further back issues.

Scottishflower65 · 17/04/2022 20:39

Pilates or yoga. I can do flexible things now that I couldn’t have done 40 years ago!

PeppaPigStinks · 20/04/2022 20:36

I love how flexible I have become since starting yoga.

Are there any specific YouTube channels that are recommended?

FlowerArranger · 20/04/2022 21:26

Try this - do it every day:

My class teacher has workout videos on moovness. 9.99 a month, with constantly updated choices of classes. She is really good, and there is a lot of beginners classes to choose from.
