Is it better to have 2 half-hour walks or one long one?

I work full time and with a busy house in the evenings when I get home I'm finding it a struggle to fit in a long walk every day. I try to walk for an hour, but fitting it in around dinner/dropping kids to activities/housework etc. is a challenge. I'm a terrible sleeper so don't relish the thought of getting up at 5:30am to allow me to go for a long walk before work.

Would I see the same benefits if I split my hour walk and did half an hour in the mornings and half in the evenings? Or even half an hour at lunchtime? Or do you need to be working your body for the full hour to really see results?

TBH just do what works for you ! Just getting outside is beneficial for your soul regardless of the physical benefits. Actually think that unless you are power walking it really doesn’t make any difference.

2x a fast walk is as good as 1 x a longer fast walk - no difference!

I would think your heart rate would increase more with a longer walk so that would be better but only marginally so.

Great! I'll take some pressure off myself and walk twice a day instead. Thanks Smile

An advantage of twice a day is that it's easier to maintain a brisk pace on both walks. It'll also stretch and mobilise you more consistently through the day.
