Hi. I’m hoping this thread will be useful for anyone who is finding it overwhelming or is struggling to get started on the fitness journey.

We are possibly facing similar hormonal, health and family etc obstacles. And can help and inspire each other to keep going.

I’m 50. I’m starting from a fitness level of zero. I had long Covid and now I’m breathless just going up the stairs.

My goal is to get strong, fit and flexible.

I’m looking at yoga in the first instance but I’m hoping to add some weights and cardio into my training soon.

Please join and let us know where you are at and what your goals are.

We have got this!

Thank god for my dog as otherwise I dread to think how little I would move!
Not sure if it's just me - I just can't bring myself to exercise at home whilst others are in! Don't know why but I need to either be in a gym with strangers ignoring everyone or on my own at home - which I never am outside working hours and there's no room to go and shut myself away.
Think I'm weird!

I'd love to join you! I'm just recovering from an injured hip. I discovered the most amazing yoga teacher and am trying to do 1 yoga and a pilates online with her. I'm desperate to get back that spring in my step and confidence to climb woodpiles, play tag and join my kids walking In huge puddles with my wellies on. I've been scared to walk down stairs without a handrail for ages even. I want to do weights to get my strength and stability back as my first goal. I'm trying hard!

Same here!! I quite fancy a Conqueror walking challenge!! You get a virtual map that tracks your distance with an avatar, it shows points of interest as if you really were walking in Peru for example. At the end you get a lovely medal sent out!! Its not bad price wise and its a start to getting fitter!! I wish us both luck on our journey!! Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. It will take time!!

Hi,

I’m late to the thread, but would love to join in. I’ll be 50 in a few weeks. Am currently 2 st overweight, thanks to comfort eating and zero exercise during lockdown.
Am working on C25k (again) and have booked a half marathon in Oct. Gulp.

Am really finding it hard to shift the lbs tho. So depressing.

Went for a long walk yesterday, and then happened upon some pedalo's. Of course kids got excited so we had a go for 45 minutes. Flippin heck peddaling around a giant Swan plus my own (way too much) weight nearly did for me. Felt like I was drunk on the walk home. Now I'm up, aches are gone and I really fancy some exercise! Nipping downstairs to do the 4 essential body weight exercises from Hybrid Calisthenics, 3 rounds of 40 squats, 50 doorframe pulls, 40 hip raises, 40 pressups. Wish me luck.....

#sigh I've been spectacularly rubbish - almost sloth like. I am so annoyed with myself - getting out on walks and moving makes me feel better - so why don't I do it!!
So.... I'm putting this here for accountability- at least 10k steps tomorrow and Saturday- work on Sunday but then at least 10k Monday.
Seriously got to sort myself out
