Any advice please? I've been with them 5 years. I'm not enjoying it any more but I don't want to hurt their feelings. Anyone who has successfully done this please tell me how!

@spleencoffin

I'm a PT and friends with some of my clients. I'd hate to think they were staying out of obligation. I actually like starting with new clients so wouldn't be bothered at all
I think it's absolutely fine to be friends with clients so long as you keep up the same level of professionalism and services. Don't take them for granted by thinking they will let you off with things like being on late, being regularly unreliable etc. Don't talk about financial hardships. Don't put less effort in just because you know someone well and you know they won't drop you.

@Flexitarian

Do people not keep their PT for motivation and accountability?

Personally I'm a softy and would tell a white lie, that I have been doing some budgeting and need to tighten my belt so I'll be going solo for a while. That's just me though.

That’s exactly the reason I still use a PT, and have done for twice a week for nearer 10 years than 5. It provides structure, motivation, and accountability for me :)

Guess it really varies as to how long you work with them for.

There's one at our gym and whilst I'm doing my workout I can't help but notice her. She just leans on the equipment and blithers away with her 'client' they seem quite happy just to chat but she's not exactly working them hard, I can't imagine that they ever see any decent results. Another PT in there, very professional, would never act like the first one does and gets great results.

Mines definitely the latter @swedenandnorway !!
