Exercise bike recommendations

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent exercise bike. I’m not in the market for anything expensive like a Peleton (sp?) unfortunately, but could spend around the £200 mark. I run a lot and would like to have something to cross train on without having to go to the gym when I’m short of time due to work. I thought a bike would be a nice low impact option?

All of them turn into washing hangers in the end.

I did wonder about that!’

No I shouldnt say that really, I have had a few over the years (!) and even found myself looking for another recently but they are a bit of a size and given that the others 'helped' with the washing in the end I gave up the idea.

If you can I'd spend a bit more.

I had a second hand York from eBay for years which cost the princely sum of £60. When it finally died I replaced it with a Reebok on an excellent deal from Very which gave me £100 discount if paid off within a set time but it was still about £250 all in.

The bike's perfectly adequate but a little rickety. Next time I'll try to steel myself to spend more.

I hate it when people say this, but you honestly would be better spending a bit more. I don't think you'll get anything decent for £200.

I've got a JLL IC400 and it is great. A lot like the ones I use at the gym. Yes, I've hung washing on it Blush. But it does get used as well.

If you have a car I'd look on Freecycle first, if you get one and use it then you can buy a better one.
I adopted this policy after giving a trampoline, a fitness hula hoop and roller skates away all in one year!

I could go a bit higher if needed but no more than £500. I guess there’s also the option of looking to see if I could pick up something second hand too?

I’ve just taken a look at this one and it looks really good and not bad value at £379. I will need to have a serious think about how much use it would get. I do like the bike at the gym and spin classes, maybe a should test the water with something second hand first. I’m very tempted though! It looks like a really nice solid bike for the price.

Sweatband have a budget Nordic Track for £499 which might be worth looking at.

I was sorely tempted but opted in the end for a lower cost 'name' for the £100 off deal.

Compare specs...

Thanks for the tip, that’s a brand I had discounted due to price but I’ll certainly take a look at the deal.

Have you got a bike already? I have a turbo trainer which turns my bike into a static bike.

I don’t unfortunately. My brother is really into cycling and had suggested the same but not an option at the moment.

Hire a spin bike and see how you get on, send it back when you stop using it
