Runners questions about hip pain and stride / gait

I’ve been getting hip pain on one side when I run. I’m trying to work on my glutes and I’m on the waiting list for physio but in the meantime I’ve noticed my stride is uneven when I walk, this sounds odd but my left side feels looser and my stride is longer (and the pain is on the right). Could this be causing the pain? Is it something you can work on?

It does sound a likely cause.
I had SPD that continued post-natally and realised after about 5 months that I was now limping out of habit rather than pain and had to conciously walk more evenly for a while until it happened more naturally again. I was also seeing an osteopath.

Before running I find it helpful to do a short exercise video before setting off as it helps activate the muscles in a greater range of movement/ directions than just a walking warm up. Starting the day with a short yoga video also helps get my muscles firing.

Thanks for reply, what’s SPD?

That’s a good idea about the video.
