Hand injury and swimming

I tripped and sent myself flying whilst on holiday in London this week and have two skint knees and have taken the top layer of skin off a patch on the heel of my hand.

I really wanted to continue swimming regularly this next week when I'm back. My knees are OK but my hand is quite a mess and I couldn't go into the pool with it as it is.

If I got neoprene gloves and even just wore one would that work do you think? Has anyone any other ideas or am I just going to have to wait till it heals?

do you need to keep it dry?
There are those cast guard things kids use when they have an arm in cast.
