Aquafit - just for older ladies ?

I am looking for a class I can do in my lunchtime and just about the only class is aquafit. I’m 50 so not exactly young but I am envisaging lots of older ladies in swimming hats and flowery cossies. I need to lose about a stone and I also want something which will help with anxiety. I’m working from home and I have to really force myself to go out - I work full time and am studying too so my days are pretty full and it’s easy to just end up sitting at my desk.
Would love to know what others think of aquafit. Should just make myself go out for a walk for 20 mins each day ?

To be honest though it wasn't much of a work out, and I'm very unfit

It can be. A lot depends on the teacher and slso how hard you push yourself. It is also possible to do not much more than the bare minimum.

Sounds great! I'd love to try it, but do you have to be able to swim because I can't.

Our leisure centre runs a separate class for older and disabled people and there’s a fairly big age range even at that. Lots of younger people at the other aqua fit class.

At my leisure centre they do two types of aqua fit- one in the training pool so no deep end and no need to be able to swim, and one in the deep end of the normal pool where you definitely need to be able to swim.

Ah thanks @ItsNotNormalLove, and thanks @vxa2 for the thread it's definitely sparked an interest in me Smile

I've just started going to one at my local health & leisure club. I'm early 40s and wasn't far off half the age of most of the other ladies. Lots of flowery cosies and swim caps (although some were more like shower caps Grin).
Ah well - I enjoyed it and so did my arthritic knees that can no longer cope with Military Fitness Bootcamps.
I think the time of day doesn't help; ours are all mid-morning session, so rule out the 9-5 workers and the stay at home mums as there's no crêche.

Started in my 20s, now in my 50s it’s still my favourite class. Problem is it’s so full of older ladies and newbies, I can’t get in. I don’t begrudge them but I wish they would put more on. 💪
