I'm 5ft 7 and weigh 10 stone 1
35 and female
I'm wanting to get down to 9 stone
I'm walking 5-6 miles a day and I'm on 1300 calories a day but I'm starving all the day.

Today I had for breakfast
1 scrambled egg
1 slice wholemeal bread

Lunch
1/2 Tin baked beans
1 slice wholemeal bread

Is this not enough?

Oh come on! You're not even overweight! I'm 5ft 5 and a half and I weigh 13 st 2! And I'm trying to lose a few pounds (size 14) but not too bothered. What's your BMI? And no, it's not enough. I had porridge (oat so Simple) and 2 clementines. Lunch was mixed fruit salad, and this evening chicken steaks, chips and salad.
No wonder you're hungry!

reallybreexy · 13/06/2021 15:14

@Singlenotsingle oh I'm gonna have tea too
I'm having chicken ,veg and potatoes
I'm not just having that

@Singlenotsingle my BMI is 22.1

All those carbs will make you hungry. Bread and potatoes would be better swapped for protein.

NavigatingAdolescence · 13/06/2021 15:17

I did 3 months on 800cals a day and wasn’t hungry ever. Plenty of protein and fat needed unless you’re very sporty.

Tradgarden · 13/06/2021 15:18

It’s too many carbs. You need more protein / fats
Have a look a the Reddit sub r/1200 is plenty - tons of daily meals photographed and people fit loads into lower calorie plans.

ChatterMonkey · 13/06/2021 15:20

Not enough protein, too much carbs.

If you keep carbs to a minimum, and avoid processed carbs like bread completely, you'll find that your 1300 calories will go a lot further.

Singlenotsingle · 13/06/2021 15:20

22.1 is perfect! I bet you're size 10?

Helspopje · 13/06/2021 15:21

All these folk that say 800/1000 cal is loads - no idea how on earth they do it.
I’m sporty and when I’m cutting I need to do 1200 - soooo difficult (and soooo boring).
Your weight is normal for height. If you want to change your shape how about leaving the food alone abd doing a bit of weight training to improve body composition?
Scales aren’t everything btw as I was 72kg and 1m76 but a size 8/10 as my body fat was v low.

myfuckingfreezer · 13/06/2021 15:22

The food you posted plus dinner won't be 1300 though? Your breakfast is 170 and your lunch is 200?

So unless you're having almost 1000 calories of chicken veg and potatoes, something is off.

As others have said you need more protein, fat and where are your fruit and veg! Aim for 7-8 portions a day.

ChatterMonkey · 13/06/2021 15:23

@singlenotsingle just because the op is lighter than you, it doesnt invalidate her desire to lose some weight to get healthier. Im the same hight as you, weigh less then you, but am concerned about my weight and am working on losing a good chunk.

Our relative situations dont make one of us right or wrong, just as it doesnt make the op wanting to lose weight any less important to the op.

Helspopje · 13/06/2021 15:23

(Apparently that’s the best part of 11stone5 and I looked way slim and ‘toned’ whatever that means and was doing national level sports)

ViceLikeBlip · 13/06/2021 15:26

1300 calories is not enough for a toddler, no wonder you're hungry! You're a perfectly healthy weight, please don't do this to yourself. If you want to lose a bit of weight then just keep an eye on the mindless eating, or the "go, on just a bit more" when you've actually had enough etc.

If you want to feel better about yourself, then starving yourself will definitely not help. Oh, and also, carbs are a valid and necessary food group.

Cakeofdoom · 13/06/2021 15:30

How long have you been consuming 1300kcal and how much weight have you lost doing so?

Singlenotsingle · 13/06/2021 15:31

chatter monkey sorry you're wrong. People get way too obsessed about their weight ( not trying to be rude, OP). It doesn't necessarily mean she would be healthier losing weight, if she's already a perfect weight.

reallybreexy · 13/06/2021 15:33

I've only just started this week.
I just carry my weight around my stomach and thighs.

merryhouse · 13/06/2021 15:34

Oh ffs people! She's having eggs, beans and chicken!

OP, your BMI is 22.1: why do you think you need to lose weight? Why do you think the best way to do this is a 1000 daily calorie deficit? (look at a TDEE calculator) Why are you only walking? - get some strength training in there while you're still young.

Once you've had a really good think about these questions, if you're still concerned about feeling hungry then eat naked vegetables. Lots of vegetables. Have mushrooms or spinach with your egg. Have a bowl of chopped salad instead of the second toast meal (you could add some pulses to it). Have at least three different veg with your chicken.

merryhouse · 13/06/2021 15:36

(I cross-posted with those last few, btw - I was responding to the Protein handmaidens)

reallybreexy · 13/06/2021 15:37

@merryhouse tbh I didn't know how many calories to eat.
It was a app when I put my measurements in gave me the 1300 a day
I don't really know where to start with exercises
Never done a push up in my life
When I used to go to the gym I didn't have a clue what I was doing
I would to add strength in to my day

Too carby and not enough veg.

For 1300 cals I would be having:

B: an egg with 160g mushrooms sauted in fry-lite (150 cals)

L: 2 Carrots cut into sticks with 33g light houmous. Salad with lemon juice and balsamic vinegar (no oil). A couple of ryvita with a low-cal topping aiming for 500 cal for the total meal

Snack mid-afternoon: 100 cal worth of popcorn.

Leaving 650 cals for dinner which should be mostly protein and non-carby veg (not much potato etc, more peas and broccoli etc)

Is your wall just for exercise or do you have a specific destination? Can you choose route that's more hilly to make it more strenuous?

Yes, her desire to lose weight to get healthier is invalid. Not only will she not be healthier if she dies lose weight, but she is also very quickly likely to regain the list weight and more. She absolutely should not be dining to lose weight Ridiculous

HelenHywater · 13/06/2021 15:55

I have to eat around 1300 calories too to have a 500 calorie deficit - I don't know why everyone is having a go at the OP. If she wants to lose a few pounds, that's her choice. I only want to lose a couple of kilos too - my BMI is around 21 and I can be a stone lighter than I am to be wtihin the healthy range.

OP, I would cut carbs and increase protein. Bread is high in calories. But also increase the exercise - walking is good - and that will give you more calories to eat. Also I find that fasting and skipping breakfast is easier.

Cowbells · 13/06/2021 15:57

Go up to about 1,500 or 1,600. You will feel less hungry but still lose weight if you are exercising that much.
TBH, I wouldn't waste calories on bread as it triggers cravings. Go for two eggs on steamed spinach or field mushrooms for breakfast, and a small baked potato with the beans and add a large leafy salad at lunchtime. You'll probably feel a lot less hungry.

Branleuse · 13/06/2021 15:58

I dont think you necessarily need to stick to 1300.

When I was trying to calorie count, I avoided bread and pasta etc I think its bad value as doesnt fill you up enough for the calories.
Youd probably feel fuller with 2 poached eggs and maybe some toamtoes and spinach or asparagus, rather than having toast with it, especially once there is butter/spread on it too, plus you probably need vegetables more than once a day.

For lunch, a huge salad with mixed beans, maybe some tuna or chicken. Will feel like more of a meal. Much more quantity of food, and a better balance of vegetables and protein.

reallybreexy · 13/06/2021 16:37

Thank you all for your suggestions
Will do some food shopping tomorrow.
Over the last year with the lockdowns I wasn't getting enough exercise and eating all the wrong foods so deffo noticed a increase in weight.
It's just too feel more comfortable in myself really
