Running shoe shopping to take my mind off not running!

I’m currently not running much... I’ve gone from running 2 marathons in 2 weeks in October to nothing. I think I’ve got a touch of plantar fasciitis but mostly I’m waiting for blood tests for a long term condition that causes fatigue among other things.

Anyway, as any good runner knows, the best way to stop thinking about not running is fantasy shoe shopping! I’m coming to the end of Saucony Triumphs, but very old season (ISO 5 I think) and I’m planning the next pair.

So.... what’s your favourite go-to running shoe and any recommendations for best shoes for PF?

Nike Pegasus all the way! I love Saucony Triumph for very long and slower training runs, but Pegs are my go to for everyday marathon training, and shorter stuff too.

Fantasy shoe, though, has to be Vaporfly surely....

Oh yes, if budget was no problem! I know a couple of people who run in the vaporfly and swear by the. Hoka lovers are devoted to the brand too...

Saucony omni - had them since omni 5, now omni 19!

I used to run in Saucony Hurricanes and I’ve become an absolute Hoka convert; in run in the Rincons and love them!

I tried Hoka and was really disappointed- but can’t remember why now Grin

I hated the cliftons, they felt like running in clown shoes 😂

I hate Hokas. I bought a pair and then I won a pair and I hated both .
I have always liked New Balance and Saucony . Both have enough support for me and are light . I ran a marathon on NB in 2019 in a pair I had only had for a week , so sure I was that they were going to work for me . I just thought up until then that my previous pair would be fine but panicked at the last minute that they were a bit too worn. My current trainers are Saucony Endorphin Speed , which I love . I also purchased a pair of Nike Vaporfly zooms . Both these are expensive and I bought them when I took early retirement at work and got a lump sum .
I was amazed at the difference that the Vaporfly made to my speed initially , but I actually find the Saucony almost as good now. I probably have used the Vaporfly's a bit too much. Shame as there won't be another pair !

I hate Hokas too. I bought the Cliftons, didn't like them, and then they split on the uppers after only 100 miles or so anyway.

I was really put off after my Clifton experience, but I then got offered a new pair of rincons and they are perfect for me. I’ve now bought the speedgoat which I also get on with really well.

I think Hokas are very much a marmite shoe.
