Does anyone else exercise on Christmas day?

Just that really? We're all lazing around and I'm deliberately not doing any chores other than dinner later. And I fancy either a walk or maybe some yoga or a gentle workout.
DH thinks I'm crazy and has gone for a nap.

I entered the household into a virtual Christmas Day race. We did a 6km run before lunch! Never done it before.

onemouseplace · 25/12/2020 15:03

Half of south London were out for a run this morning given what I saw on our morning walk!

pontiouspilates · 25/12/2020 15:05

I've taken the dog for a walk, and will take her out again later. I'm itching for a run, but will hold off until tomorrow morning for that!

runningthrougharedlight · 25/12/2020 15:08

Yip! A 5k this morning for Marcothon (run 5k daily in December). I’m on day 25 and legs are like lead but my cardio fitness has gone through the roof! A Christmas present to myself.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/12/2020 15:08

We did, mostly to get a badge on strava.

OublietteBravo · 25/12/2020 15:13

Not these days. But I used to before I had kids. It’s a better day for exercise than New Year’s Day.

AuntieMarys · 25/12/2020 15:15

6 mile walk in minus 2 degrees . Fab

bengalcat · 25/12/2020 15:17

Yep took the dog for a run in Hyde Park this morning

Echobelly · 25/12/2020 15:18

Yes, I try to do 20 misn each morning (aiming for 30 while off work), but then I don't celebrate Xmas, so not a big deal!

maverickallthetime · 25/12/2020 15:53

I've been for a walk and played on the ring fit-!not sure if that counts 🤣

thatwastheriver · 25/12/2020 17:03

I've been for a run, it was sunny and windless this morning. For the last 12 years we've been on our boat in southern Spain for the winter and there's always a swim. Not many go in but lots come to support us with cake and drinks. Last year I discovered hot chocolate and whisky, mmmmm.

Spodge · 25/12/2020 18:08

Yes. Did a high intensity interval session this morning.

PurpleDaisies · 25/12/2020 18:10

Freezing cold long walk this morning. It was gorgeous.

feelingverylazytoday · 25/12/2020 18:13

Had to accompany my daughter on her 2 walks (totalling 6 miles) as I'm her carer.

Lottapianos · 25/12/2020 18:18

Did a 30 minute weights session (YouTube) this morning and went out for an hour long walk as well. Determined to do a workout every other day over the Christmas break

Hollyhead · 25/12/2020 18:47

Yeah I like a Christmas morning run, it really sets you up for the feasting. Didn’t manage it today though but did walk. I can’t bear not getting 20 mins fresh air.

EmmaStone · 25/12/2020 19:07

DH and I ran this morning before breakfast, we always try to do something as otherwise feel too sluggish with no activity and all the food. Ate earlier this year than normally would as my parents joined us and of course can't stay over, so are a bit earlier so they could leave before dark, otherwise would have tried to get everyone out for a short walk.

missmouse101 · 25/12/2020 19:11

No, not enough time to and just cannot be arsed.

whereisthejoy · 25/12/2020 19:14

Yup, 5 mile treadmill run to start the day. Ending it on a high of champagne and chocolate though Grin

PatchworkElmer · 25/12/2020 19:41

Went for a short family walk this afternoon. Did a long run yesterday so taking today as a rest day.

lljkk · 25/12/2020 22:51

Yes. Would happily do anything, but what fit today was a 2 hour walk. Atrocious weather & I can't run every day or get knee problems.

oldstudentmum · 25/12/2020 22:57

I exceeded expectations today and Thoroughly exercised my right arm lifting up a glass and raising it to my mouth it was quite exhausting. I also set up an Xbox which I've never done before whilst drinking but I think it's quite impressive

AlrightTreacle · 26/12/2020 12:17

I've always gone for a walk with my family on Christmas Day, this year we went for a two and half hour walk in the morning, it was beautiful and sunny. Then me and DP walked back from his family's, took just under an hour. I didn't do my usual 10 minute yoga in the evening though, too full!

One thing I've finally discovered in 2020 is that I'm a bit like a dog and need a daily walk, or I start to feel down. Think a walk helps to break Christmas Day up too, as it can be a long day.

Mommabear20 · 26/12/2020 12:23

Absolutely!
I clean up after DH and DD and the dogs 😂

DiesalFive · 26/12/2020 16:52

I usually do Parkrun Xmas day but this year just went for a morning hike instead, as well as a 30 min strength session and bit of yoga.

I don't understand the mentality of slobbing about and not doing my usual exercising 'because it's Christmas'. Enjoyed a nice run today too!
