Water resistant running tights/leggings recommendations

New to running this year but I love it and it has improved my mental and physical health enormously. Have got absolutely soaked to the skin several times this week so realised I need some good waterproof/Water resistant running tights/leggings preferably with a phone pocket and in black. Does anyone have a good recommendation? Not too expensive either, say £70 max. Also a good waterproof running jacket in black but maybe with some reflective strips? Again reasonably priced. Thanks in advance Smile

2XU windproof are the best ones I've come across - impermeable panels protect you (esp front of thighs) but sides are more regular material so they are breathable. Look for them on offer as full price is £££. And crap pockets - I wear a flip belt with them.

Sorry - that's not terribly close to your spec, but I've never come across any others that are any good

Thanks @AuntieStella what is the fit like?

I'd describe the fit as true (I'm the same size in most brands) but they're a compression brand so they will feel rather squeezey until you are used to them

Try DHB (Wiggie own brand) for a jacket, or RunThrough Kit (comes up snug)

You really don't need waterproofs IMO - when you get sweaty in waterproofs it feels like you're boiling in the bag! Getting wet is definitely the best option unless it would be genuinely unsafe to do so (ie you're up a fell in the Lake District, potentially for several hours, and at risk of hypothermia)

On the wettest days I run in shorts and a vest. Long sleeved top if it's cold. You can get lots of reflective long-sleeved running tops but my favourites are Inov8 and Ronhill. They're breathable, soft, and very versatile - ie will keep you warm on cold days but won't make you over-hot once you get going.

I wear normal/ thermal leggings. Getting wet is the unpleasant bit, helped by warming up inside the house first. Once you're wet and warmed up it's OK. Refreshing even!

I have showerproof jackets which are useful if it's torrential or windy. If it's fairly mild and up to moderate rain, I just wear the appropriate, but close-fitting layers.

You get wet from sweat anyway.
A cap is the most useful item.

Agree with fellrunner about Innov8 - I think Stormshell is the best running jacket on the market, but it has a price tag to match.

I got mine as a birthday treat last year
