Dumbbells - how heavy for home workouts?

What weight would you recommend for a beginner (me) and intermediate (DD)? I've been doing Team Body Project workouts on YouTube for the last two months after 20 years of no exercise at all!

Yes definitely! I did a fitness blender course (mix of weightlifting and Hiit workouts for four weeks) with my old tiny weights and the repeated the course when I got my 5kg weights and I could barely walk after the first workout! It’s really satisfying feeling yourself getting stronger though.

I’m no expert, but I think any exercise where you hold the weights far from your body (like a lateral raise where you have your arms stretched out) seem much harder than when you have your elbows tucked in (like a bicep curl). And small muscles, like triceps, need smaller weights than big ones, like quads.

@ShowOfHands thanks for the tips...I’m definitely going to look into a chin up bar (and possibly some new plastering for the ceiling)
