Anyone do a class before work (early)

I usually do a class (spin, pump, hiit) in the evening, after giving kids tea and ready for bed, but I'm finding it a bit much, especially as they will be starting back at school this week.

I am thinking of going before work/school run. Class starts at 6.30. I will be back in the house for 7.30. Dc will home with DH, he leaves for work at 8ish. Does anyone do this and does it work? Do you eat breakfast before or after? Is it too much of a rush then getting ready?
Any advice appreciated

I sometimes run before work. I’m not usually very motivated to get out of bed, but then I got a dog who needs walking anyway. I don’t tend to eat first, but some people have sometime light, like a banana or a protein shake or something.

It’s great to have it done and dusted before the day starts.

I used to do a 6.45am spin or circuits class before work. The class was 6.45am to 7.30am and then I'd go straight to the office. Worked for me.

I'd have breakfast afterwards as I can't eat before exercising.

Sounds like you have loads of time, if you'd be home for half 7.

Not an actual 'class' but I go cycling early (05:00) before he rest of the house is up which gives me time to get back and have a shower before sorting out breakfast/lunches etc. I LOVE having that time to myself, it's 100% worth rising early Smile

Go for it!

I train three times a week from 06:00 to 07:45 and adore it! It's quiet in the gym and I love having done something productive before anyone else is really up and about. I get everything ready the night before and find that I am always 100% motivated when the alarm sounds. I eat afterwards but drink plenty beforehand (I take a flask of tea with me for the short train journey there.)

I actually teach 3 classes a week at 6.30am. Most people who zoom in either want to exercise before the kids are up/before work.
It’s really ace to get up, sling a sports bra on and off you go! By 7.10 you are exercised up and drinking a cuppa with extra smugness. 😁
It’s my most popular time slot.

I did a gym session pretty well every morning before work but with WFH, I switched to early evening. I'm on holiday at the moment and have switched back to 7 am because it's still quite warm in the evening (mid 30s) and I don't feel like it.

When I'm living my absolute best life, and am physically well, I like to do a yoga class between 6 and seven.

Not classes, but I've been through phases of doing home workouts or going for a run before breakfast. It's absolutely the best time of day for it -it's out of the way, and energises you for the day. I get out of bed and get going before my brain has time to tell me it's a stupid idea.

Of course a class would add commuting time.

emmathedilemma · 02/09/2020 11:48

Only very occasionally and I don't like it! I have breakfast afterwards other i'd be sick but i'm one of those people who wakes up hungry and always eats breakfast almost as soon as they get up so I find it a struggle to exercise first. It also tends to make me want an afternoon nap!

SmallestInTheClass · 02/09/2020 12:00

I have to eat before I exercise or I feel really nauseous. if I'm doing an early class or run, I get up and have a small bowl of cereal, back to bed for half an hour then get up and am fine to exercise 45-60 minutes after eating.

cherrypiepie · 02/09/2020 12:06

I used to love it. Up at 6 throw on gym clothes. Out at 6.15 on the spin bike at 6.30. 45 min class, shower change and at work for 8am feeling smug energised and all glowy!

eurochick · 02/09/2020 12:09

I generally don't do classes but pre kids I used to go to the gym or run before work most of the time. I'd have breakfast afterwards when I got to work.

Sounds perfect! I'm going to give it a try starting on Monday; I like the idea of getting up early and getting it out the way and feeling good for the rest of the day. I was just thinking if I don't eat before a workout i usually feel a bit lightheaded but might try a protein shake as don't think I could eat breakfast that early

Before Covid I used to a yoga/strength training class at 4:45 am. I loved knowing that my exercise was done for the day. I made certain to do everything the night before. My yoga and street clothes set out and lunch made.
