I need to slim the bottom half of my body

My bottom half (thighs, stomach, legs, bum) need to go!
What is the best exercise?

I suspect you’ll hear the usual advice about how you can’t spot reduce, you need to lose fat all over, building muscle will help tone your bottom half and working out your top half will help you look more balanced... but... I live in hope and I’m following this carefully.

Signed...a pear shape

Yankathebear · 28/08/2020 21:24

I am expecting that but my concern is that I love that I’ve put on weight just not the bottom half. I would rather go back to being underweight!

For me it was spin class, it just seemed to make everything sleeker. Currently I'm bigger than I'd like but amazed at how jogging on the spot to get my steps up has got rid of my chub rub.

Yankathebear · 28/08/2020 22:11

I watched a spin class and thought I would die!

Running will do it, but you'd have to really put in the miles.

Chocolateteabag · 29/08/2020 14:46

Another pear here - I'm slowly working on building my miles up (inspired by @fellrunner85 ) but I also do a boot camp 2-3 times a week to compliment running - lots of core work and some weights etc

I don't feel like I've changed much but friend who hasn't seen me since start of lockdown has said my shape has changed quite a bit

I feel much better being fitter and running for further so I'm keeping it up regardless of body change

ForeverRedSkinhead · 29/08/2020 14:51

Running changed my body shape completely , I almost didn't recognise myself! I'm a pear.

jolokoy · 29/08/2020 14:56

Squats

BogRollBOGOF · 29/08/2020 22:17

Running. I'm a pear and always will be, but better to be a lean, muscular pear Grin

Thank you. I keep starting C25K but always give up by week 3.

I've struggled with this for years. Obviously run, swim etc, but the thing that really helped me was actually focusing on my upper body and shoulders to balance by shape. Weights, pulls etc in the gym. Weight class. It does really help

areyoubeingserviced · 31/08/2020 08:52

Walk.
Spinning can make you tone up, but you may end up with bulky legs.
Power walking is the best

fellrunner85 · 31/08/2020 19:27

Aw @Chocolateteabag - it's very flattering to think I'm inspiring someone!!

I don't feel that inspirational right now, after barely 10 miles this weekend, followed by a massive curry Blush

Haworthia · 31/08/2020 19:29

I’m a bloody ridiculous pear.

I don’t want to bloody run though, I can’t do it. Might have to live with gigantic thighs forever (seriously, they’re only a few inches smaller than my waist 😩).

Chocolateteabag · 31/08/2020 19:47

Lol @fellrunner85 "just" 10 miles!!

Your posts on here are inspiring (at least to me) I have a long way to go before I can say "just 10 miles" but it's doable, I just need to keep at it
I need to remind myself occasionally how far I have already come

fellrunner85 · 31/08/2020 20:13

Oh hell yes, @Chocolateteabag - honestly, I have to remind myself of the days when a 10-minute run seemed an impossibility, let alone 10 miles Smile
I would never have believed 10 miles would one day be a "short and easy" run!!!
