My Fitbit broke, I want to replace it but so many options.. Need it to track steps, sleep and heart rate. I'm a walker rather than a runner.

Probably fitbit if you're not bothered about GPS tracking capability.

Absolutely an Apple Watch, if you have an iPhone and if you can afford it.

The Apple Watch Series 5 is phenomenal.

If you have an iPhone then definitely an Apple Watch, they are really great even behind the fitness tracking capability

PopAVit · 26/08/2020 14:04

I’m enjoying my Samsung active 2 watch.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 26/08/2020 14:06

I have Apple Watch and Garmin. Apple Watch is a better all round watch. Garmin gives me better run stats.

fallfallfall · 26/08/2020 14:06

iPhone Apple Watch and smart scale all the way. If you want to track your sleep you’ll need to charge it mid day.

I've got a Garmin Forerunner which does everything you need

'Steps' are an unreliable measure - Afaik they are really just arm-swings so don't register if you're carrying bags, pushing a pram or whatever. I always set the exercise app outdoor walk on my Apple Watch when I'm going for a proper walk so that it uses GPS to get a realistic distance.

DH wears his at night as it can detect atrial fibrillation and also uses a sleep app he finds pretty good.

Obviously the Apple Watch isn't an option if you don't have, or don't want to get, an iPhone.

I have a Garmin Vivoactive 4s. I love it as it has built in GPS so I don't need to have a phone with me to track where I've been, its a nice size, and it does everything I want.

Thanks for all the responses, very helpful!

Another Apple Watch devotee, it replaced my Fitbit. Never had a Garmin though. We're an Apple household, so tend to just stick with what we know 😁.

I like being able to take calls on it, quickly reply to texts, WhatsApps etc. And I like the focus on active calories burned and active minutes rather than steps. I find the stats quite accurate too, it's helped me shed some of my lockdown extra pounds! Oh and I like the monthly challenges it sets me.

I’ve got a versa and Apple Watch and actually prefer the versa!

They’ve just announced two new models too, worth looking at.

Chachacha90 · 27/08/2020 21:45

^ also prob worth noting I don’t have to charge the versa for days

DuaneBenziesvoice · 27/08/2020 21:49

I have a garmin vivomove HR and I love it. Because I prefer round faces on a watch and it doesn't really look like a fitness watch.
I've never had an Apple Watch but my husband had a Fitbit and changed to a garmin when it died after seeing mine.

LoeliaPonsonby · 27/08/2020 21:49

I really rate my Garmin Forerunner. I use all the running gubbins and it syncs nicely with My Fitness Pal, but most importantly it only needs charging about once a week.

imaflutteringkite · 27/08/2020 21:54

I've just changed from a Fitbit to a Garmin and the Garmin is loads better even though mine is a fairly basic model I think.

AbbieFB · 27/08/2020 21:54

I went from Fitbit to Apple Watch to Garmin. The Garmin is my favourite of the three.

I've had several fitbits and a Garmin. The Garmin worked well but was ugly - I couldn't get past its ugliness! Fitbits I like, but they do break down pretty regularly - you are unlikely to keep one going past its warrantee. My current Fitbit broke within a month and needed replacing - it confirmed with me that I'll go for a smartwatch next. I don't have an iPhone so will.peobably go with some type of android smartwatch. Hope that helps!

Would never have another Fitbit. The screen went black on mine after 6 weeks and discovered it's a really common fault. Switched to an apple 3 watch and although I've had to install a couple of apps to get it to do the same things the Fitbit does on its own and it's slightly clunkier to use, I'm much happier with it.
