Just restarted the gym. The doms are killing me. Any suggestions on how to deal?

I take 200mg of magnesium citrate every evening, that helps. If your DOMS is severe though, maybe you're just doing too much too fast. Do you do weights or cardio, or a mix?

MellowBird85 · 14/08/2020 22:14

Best cure is honestly doing the workout again. That or an ice bath.

This gel really helps me and as Mellow said, doing some sort of activity usually helps to loosen up. Hurts to start with but then eases off. It'll go, at least it's a good pain Grin

Yup, the only thing that helps me is to get moving!

Hyperfish101 · 16/08/2020 19:53

Thanks. Been working out through lockdown but have upped the weights so am feeling it!

I found really upping my protein helps. It also stops me being hungry all the time. Win win!

devildeepbluesea · 17/08/2020 17:28

I've been training hard for years, have tried all of the above and in all honesty the only thing to work is to get back on the horse!

You may need to rest for a day if it really is agony but my advice would be to get.back there as soon as physically possible. For brief, very fleeting respite a ludicrously hot bath can help for half an hour or so.

Thanks OP. First lifting session in 6 months for me tomorrow 💪

Thanks all

Epsom salts bath, water and protein shake. And keep moving!!

MrsJamin · 18/08/2020 14:27

All good advice above- stretching/gentle yoga, protein, go on a walk, and don't train those muscles hard until after the doms have stopped (but keep using them normally).
